Other Tins of similar Lithographic design of the Company Smith, Lichty and Hillman Company. Waterloo Iowa. Have been sold at Auction indicated the year as 1950's and sold as 1950's Tin's ?
It's my understanding that the Company went through name change in the early 1940's so if it was Pre-War 1945 it would have been another name.
Only information from Antique Dealers and Auction anything that suggest different is always helpful to many.

What I am drawing from this so far. Coriander was available during the 30's into the 40's. So he could have used it as a stand alone item. However, until we have time to watch for other examples to appear. Perhaps limited to a few companies. Which begs the question of it not being part of a blend. Counter argument would then be. If he did start with adding Sexton's Poultry Seasoning to his Salt, Pepper, Paprika and seasoning salts basic recipe. He still would have been tied to a lone supplier. Or any other blend for that matter
May not get much more out of this than it's possible stand alone coriander could have been used.

Flg. Keep searching for the Information You may discover something that 100 Antique Dealers and Auction have NOT figured out? My research say what it says and I have posted many Spice tins which indicate the items they sold from the 1940's on the Back of the Tins and the Fliers they had sent out. Does Not show individual coriander as a item sold by the Major Players and the Import Documents you can review shows low low volume of imported coriander until after the War. I use Bill S from Marion Kay as my reference as He specifically spoke to Coriander Seed (Imported as Coriander Seed Originally) being a very limited item and Nutmeg was much more known but never had major sales until after the 1950's. He clearly Indicated that He did not sell Coriander until the Mid 60's ? His words ? Was it a item added to other spices Yes in some pastry and cake spices etc. in the 1940's Tins show that ? One Reference of Old tin reverse Prior to 1945 Era. Later Years started to Show Coriander Seed on information Printed by Spice suppliers. Remember C.H.S. had travelling Spice Hawker Snake Skin Sales Men showing up ALL his life being a Gas Station. C.H.S. if He was low on some Spices or Herbs often a Travelling Roadman would bring him supplies on the return trip they made as they got the supplies somewhere along the Road and delivered it back to Him for a Sale?

Check out my chart. Proof for all those in the right timeframe exist. Also check were I indicate Sexton’s did not make it then.
Completely useless post again. Picture just enhances what I posted about Sexton

What is overlooked is that in the early days, CHS employed bakers, for whatever reason. Coriander is a standard for pastries.

The Company Smith, Lichty and Hillman Company, from Waterloo Iowa, has been around a long time and had many changes, It's very Historical, and if you look at Bee Brand aka McCormick's they also Have a similar Long history, Then there is Sexton and Others who Have Longer Patents then some and who Helped set standard when ones like Griffith and The Few Pharmaceutical Botanical Companies like Pennick Were using Boxes and Glass Jars to package Spices Herbs and Seasoning and Liquid Dressing ?
ALL Have LONG History in the Trade it's NOT hard to Dispute. Many of the Antique and Auction see the items come up for auction and the Pre-1900 Items demand Large Dollar to win the Bid in the Auctions. All this History is great Still ONLY Proves that Coriander was NOT the Major seller of the 1930's and Did NOT market Blitz until after the War and become a Item on the store shelves as a Individual sold Ground coriander until the late 1940's Coriander Seed was imported since the 1920 the IRS and homeland Security trade Documents show it's Imports from from 3 or 4 countries BUT vary Low marginal Ton's imported until after 1950.

What is overlooked is that in the early days, CHS employed bakers, for whatever reason. Coriander is a standard for pastries. You are 1000% and C.H.S. made many dessert's also, Plus Juniper Mint Drink he was Proud of. C.H.S. favorite item was a Fresh Fried Donut.. What was used Pre the conception and shelf sold Coriander was MACE by the Bakers Look at the Old Old 1900 to 1930 Cook Books and Look under Pastry items it will show recipes with Mace and some with Nutmeg while the Coriander was NOT even listed in Recipes until after the 1950's Very very little documentation of Coriander Seed in the Millions of recipes which have surfaced from 1900 to 1930's. Mace was a TOP seller of the 1900 to 1950 until Nutmeg took over, and then Coriander also was a Late item to the Party. Good luck chasing the Coriander Trail It's NOT a Spice or Herb C.H.S. used and was NOT in the Old 1930's and 1940 Photo's from his kitchen or a item C.H.S. requested Diners, and Hamburger Joints to have On Hand to make the Chicken or the Side Dishes for the Smaller items He taught them to Cook while He spent the week showing them How to Cook. The Original Owner of the Edson Alberta Hamburger Ice Cream Stand said C.H.S. even Brough the Spices and Herbs needed to His Location and Showed the Original List of C.H.S. Spice and Herb list Needed. The Original Owners of other Location also said Yes He gave a list of Spices and Herbs to have on Hand.
