IN the Audio HINT : Ginger first and Cinnamon second C.H.S. specifies to Bring Bill S Cinnamon Bring him Cinnamon (WHY BRING BILL CINNAMON there was a shortage of Cinnamon that time period that Bill was worried about, it Did not cause a Major issue but there was some low supplies for Marion Kay It was at that same time the companies used two Cinnamon Saigon Cassia and Ceylon ) BUT C.H.S. FIRST says some of Bills Great Pure spices are GINGER and Cinnamon ANSWER: Ginger and Cinnamon CHS liked MK Cinnamon. Cinnamon must be in! CHS liked Donuts, and Mace was commonly used in doughnuts. So Mace must be in! I don't have words for the disdain such 'reasoning' triggers within me.

I've never once been reminded of the taste of doughnuts (donuts in modern parlance) when I eat KFC OR. The thought of such an association has never crossed my mind.

ANYONE that knows the OLD Style Donut will taste the same type of under tone inner K.F.C. Flavor then the extra spices and herbs compliment the GREAT KFC chicken

YOU CAN ONLY reference the Taste if it was Made from a OLD Donut recipe made with Mace
Do Not compare Mini Donuts or others which Do Not use Mace

Additionally, on the MK website there is no hint of Bill Summers reverse engineering the recipe. It is clearly indicated that CHS sought him out to produce it, not clone it. The key here is that in the "early 1960's", CHS still owned the company. Thus it was his right to 'give' the recipe to Bill (Marion K.) Summers.

Oddly enough, there are several internet references to CHS having sold the company to Brown and Massey in 1962 rather than 1964. I don't place credence in such assertions, but they are out there.
Edit: Was the first tender of an offer to purchase forwarded in 1962, and subsequently culminated in 1964?

WHY DID BILL S Comment : That the company was using inferior Ingredients then what C.H.S. would have been using in 1939 when C.H.S. made the Original seasoning for Chicken ? Bill S would have NOT commented that if He was NOT comparing the Watered Down Seasoning of Brown and Massey NEW AGE Engineers trying to make Spices who knew Nothing about cooking ?

One potential reason as to why Star-Anise should be dismissed as an ingredient within 99-X is that when 99-X is zinged the Star-Anise (which would initially be discreetly benefiting the flavor behind the scenes) would suddenly upon zinging become overtly detectable and overpoweringly sickening, at least to many of us.

This is what I think happened to 99X. Please note: I never had any 99X myself. Information synthesis approach and speculation. Omission due to legal issues. Restricted to +5 herbs and spices. Garlic to be considered non-herb and non-spice. This would explain how Coriander surfaced.
