Not one of the Jamacian Allspice species oil analyses which I've looked up contained any of either Anethole or Estragole (wherein there is not even a mention of either of these compounds), but quite highly interestingly enough, Allspice sourced exclusively from the Dominican Republic contains 4.7% to 8.7% Anethole by weight within it's oil.
Conclusion: Buy Allspice grown exclusively within the Dominican Republic, or add Anise Seed.

Hey Silver Your Viewing a Chinese Test from Cooked Chicken which was NEW AGE RECIPE
NOT the Original Seasoning.
YOU GUYS would have been smarter to send a sample of Willies spice in for a Test the 99X also
The Chinese and The 99X were much Later in Time Period then the Original K.F.C. seasoning prior to 1970 or 1975.
Many of US have had the Chinese Spice for decades and It's Different then the USA and Canada Seasoning Also and they use a different Flour

I have never tasted anise or star anise in KFC. At least here in Canada. I’m guessing most of my younger years may have actually been 99x. I stopped adding anise a few cooks back and don’t miss it TBH.
Keep in mind Ken now thinks no ginger. So … ymmv
I will say there is something sweet though in modern KFC. I have on rare occasions tasted it. I’m going to head down the basil road for a bit I think.

Isn't Winter Savory supposed to be a bit more robust and peppery-like than Summer Savory? I've never tried it. I'd apparently have to grow my own.
