My hope in launching this 'question for the day' thread is to unify us and bring us onto the same page in our quest to derive recipes effectively equaling the flavor of KFC OR.
With this goal in mind, my KFC OR related question for the day is:
Who among us definitively tastes Oregano within actual KFC OR? And who among us does not?

Deep, since 'Sage' is not 'Mexican Oregano' (Lippia graveolens) are you proclaiming that instead of containing any classic 'Sage', KFC OR contains 'Lippia graveolens'?

Ground oregano - Mexican Sage (sorry for mis print in above post) OK, so now we know that the Oregano in KFC OR is neither Mediterranean Oregano nor Marjoram, as it is Mexican. But in my research there are 'at least' three different Mexican Oregano species which can also be called Mexican Sage. Therefore, what kind (family, species) of Oregano is that? Is it Lippia graveolens?

Another indicator that the Oregano in KFC OR (if present at all) is not a Mediterranean Oregano is that many make the claim that Mediterranean Oregano(s) did not become well known or used in NA until post WW2, when returning NA (as in US and Canadian) troops brought it home with them for planting in their gardens.

deepfriednew101 , Lippia graveolens has a very distinctive aroma. Might this help you to identify the particular type of Mexican Oregano/Sage that is required by KFC OR?

Research and photo's from C.H.S. Original Kitchen.
Research in 1930's shows the Majority of Oregano was a Mexican Grown Variety Due to the Climate. FDA import for 1930's showed the Heaviest Amount of Oregano was from Mexico, YES there was other Import into the USA. and Canada.
Tone's and Durkee's BOTH showed Mexican oregano source. NOT saying other companies Did NOT use other sourced Oregano.
Old tins in Photo's of C.H.S. indicate THE TINS for Oregano DOES NOT MEAN it was in the Recipe it only shows it was in his Pantry Reach. also photo's from C.H.S. and Claudia Personal Home show some Spice tin's.
So it's ALL research and Investigation which Back and show potential Items .
It is also Listed as a Original Ingredient on a Recipe, which may or may NOT be the Original
Personal research also showed that Most poultry seasoning contained a Mexican oregano in Mixes also, some were listed a sage ?
Personally if you cannot find the Mexican Oregano a High Quality Sage leave works
NOTE the words Leaves as a Hint NOT Pre-Ground Oregano or Sage DO NOT USED PRE_GROUND items
Leaves or Rubbed. MORE OILS.
Personal opinion and research show Both Mexican Oregano and Jamaican Ginger ( I HATE referencing Countries to Spices and Herbs BUT WHEN THEY MAKE A MASSIVE difference THEY CANNOT BE overlooked, LIKE Jamaican Pimento is SO FAR THE HIGHEST GRADE better then other)
Again this is Personal Opinion and Years of research of which I made 1000's of telephone calls and personal contacts.
