Aromat: Salt, msg, lactose, wheat starch, yeast extract, palm/sunflower oil, liquid shortening, onions, anti-clumping agent, garlic powder, turmeric, bay leaf, cloves, celery seeds, porcini mushrooms. I bought some (2 shakers worth) awhile back to try in my Chicken Coating recipes, but then I never did. I can at least say that it tastes absolutely fantastic on Sweet Corn. It likely wouldn't hurt to try it in the pursuit of a KFC OR Like flavor and aroma. But I managed to do that without Aromat.

I once thought they may be similar, but Aromat seems to be only roughly half as salty as powdered chicken bouillon cubes. And chicken bouillon doesn't have the mushroom background, or the background sweetness.

The ONLY reason We have ruled out Aromat was Mushroom's in KFC.
KFC made a statement there were NO mushroom in ANY ITEM in there Franchises in Canada on multiple inquiries.
NOW it's NOT to say NEW AGE KFC has not changed as the last inquiries regarding Mushrooms in Canada I know about were 1985.
ONLY my understanding and opinion.

If CHS used Aromat, and shifted to msg, all before selling out to the Corporation, then KFC would never have used mushroom. This is how lawyers finagle a conversation. I would put nothing past KFC Corp.

They have several types. I've only bought the original. I will tell you of one fast food dish that uses a lot of Aromat, Chili's Terlingua Chili. It is great chili. I got the recipe from a video showing a Chili's cook from Asian cooking the chili.

I cooked gizzards today. I had previously dry brined them for 24 hours with msg, salt, sugar, baking powder, allspice, coriander, white pepper, and a teaspoon of the breading seasoning. I boiled them for 2 hours. I will use the "broth" liquid for my chili I will enter in a chili contest Oct. 1, 2022. The gizzards were spot on, albeit a little less salty, and obviously missing that "peppery" bite, which Pepperall would have given. I ate every last one, and now must wait for the gout to set in. LOL

Gout is NOT what you want NO matter how good the Gizzards are.

I worked on my recipes for 40 to 45 years. My best are smokey sauce, BBQ rub, BBQ sauce, chili seasoning and my fermented Trinidad 7 Pot Primo and heirloom garlic sauce. The big boost came through these "KFC" forums where I got familiar with herbs and spices like never before. My chili seasoning and BBQ sauce progressed to the point where I believe they are the best anywhere to be found. I have been reluctant to release the ingredients because of what may become of these recipes. In my searches throughout the years, discovering the hints and clues to great recipes took great concentration and analysis. This is what is in the back of my mind. What I will do is combine ingredients from both (only herbs and spices) recipes and post them here. If you can discern my recipes from this, then have at it.
Chili pepper blend (secret) Paprika Allspice Cumin Dried mustard Garlic Celery seed Mexican oregano Coriander Cinnamon Bay leaf Clove Cardamom Jamaican ginger Lemon pepper & lemon salt Onion Tarragon MSG Salt Peter pepper Brown sugar
I really didn't use many herbs. All of my Mexican sauces use Mexican oregano, cilantro, and sometimes thyme, among the regulars.
