I am very suspicious of anything "recently" tasted. This is where I usually request someone's age, not for attack purposes as some do, but to assess that person's views about whether they actually ate pre-corporate KFC or not. I have used tea, cocoa and coffee. I have neutral opinions about them. I totally agree that I'm Neutral on tea coffee and cocoa I will say that the Tea when uses Bergmount Earl grey was a GREAT chicken and we still occasionally make wings or thighs with the recipe BUT it is either People love it or hate it when they eat it Personally my Taste which has a Great understanding the Oldest Original Taste of KFC with the Old crust which was soft greasy that the Napkins welded to your fingers it was so tacky. The empty Bucket left FULL aroma in a house for 3 Days The soft Fried coating Had VISUAL spec's of Herbs Rosemary, Thyme, Basil Spec's were CLEAR and had flavor the pepper spec's were secondary to the Herbs Spec's using the Earl Grey gave a GREAT Great different flavor and Brought a distinctive taste BUT All others who taste it NEVER say OMG its just like KFC ? I feel that if a person Dialed in the Amount with a combination of herbs it may make a similar or like version on Corporate NEW AGE KFC but NOT the Original KFC

I'm not tasting any rosemary, basil, or thyme. What I do taste is citrusy, fresh, grassy, woody, foresty, and flowery notes from the raw flour I ate. The flowery taste is from Earl Grey, but I can't figure out the others. I don’t know why it's so fresh-tasting, but it’s like the herbs and spices were ground yesterday.

When a major "net" site comments on a subject, the minor "web" sites quote the same information. The net has been misinforming the public about a certain herb/spice for years. I am drying it now and believe that it may be the missing link. I believe that CHS hinted at it, but only Gloria Pitzer caught his drift.

I already tried using Gloria’s Tomato soup powder and using sun dried tomatoes. My chicken tasted like popeyes. Imma head towards the herb path. What I tasted was a very pungent herb with undertones of marjoram, lemon and bergamot.

Can't say that I am now drying soup. I already have dried tomatoes. What if CHS sent Gloria to get mixes, not to use, but as a hint at a key ingredient inside?

Willie items has been over looked with the Tomato Soup mix is Red Bell Pepper and MSG which were the TWO major ingredients in the OLD OLD Lipton Tomato Soup
The Italian Seasoning had the Blend of Herbs
All the Soup makers were Using MSG in both canned and Powdered Soups for Decades and they Bough the Majority of the MSG imported to the USA
MSG was also being incorporated into the Italian Herb seasoning as the Majority of the Powdered items were all made by Soup Companies also LOL
The Great thing is Willie You have great ideas to Test Many items and ones that need to be explored

Yall here is my recipe:
10g White pepper 10g Black Pepper 10g Lipton Earl Grey Bergamot Tea 10g Marjoram 7g Old bay seasoning 7g Parsley 7g Coriander seeds 5g Mustard seeds 5g Fennel Seeds 1g Allspice 1g Ginger 1g Oregano
add 5g of spice mix to 50g of flour.
I may not get the note, but atleast I created a tasty fried chicken. Peppery note was definitely added during the potato chips seasoning boom (sour cream, cheese, barbecue). Yall wondered why Lays has KFC flavored chips? They definitely is the producer of the note. I added Old Bay Seasoning thinking that before his boat ride, Colonel wanted to impress his boat friends with a new seafood spice blend.
Au revoir, Ciao, Goodbye yall!
Fin.
