Deep Taste , if the coated chicken is sprayed with oil (we used butter flavored spray oil) it will crisp up sufficiently, but not fully uniformly, and the coating just remains flat against the chicken, and doesn't puff up or fold or crinkle, etc... The coating tastes fine. Not soggy. But it is not anywhere near a presentation like quality coating as for deep fried. Ours is a 7 quart air fryer with a sort of oblong pot/pan. I couldn't imagine attempting to air fry quasi deep fried chicken in a smaller unit. With effort, and chicken size dependent, we can generally get 3 legs and 3 thighs into ours. 3 times now we have roasted whole chickens in our air fryer. But if they are too large this becomes impossible. Steaks, hamburgers, Western Style Ribs, pork chops, etc... have also been cooked in it. And french fries cut from fresh potatoes a few times... We've got fried Brussels Sprouts in mind for it.

A major breakthrough! We just ate the last few pieces of our cook session #14 and recipe #14 deep fried chicken, and this time I sprinkled extra salt and MSG directly onto it, and BOOM, the major symphony of the elusive note!. Recipe #14 with extra salt and MSG is fantastic!

Since Tarragon is so delicious, and so is Celery Seed, I'm going to have to seriously reconsider recipe #15 accordingly, and forget about re-introducing Coriander, plus give credence to the advice of @macame and downplay the Sage yet again.

As of my real KFC sniff test, and keeping my 5 must have's based on that. This is melding for either a Wednesday or Friday night cook For 200g Flour and 28g Salt 6g MSG 4g White Pepper 3g Black Pepper (1g fine, 2g cracked) 1.5g Garlic Salt 1.5g McCormick Poultry Seasoning 1g Celery Seed - Silver1g Ginger - loading up the ginger 0.5g Mustard (powdered) 0.5g Paprika 0.5g Summer Savory 0.25g Allspice 0.25g Nutmeg *** Sorry no cinnamon again for me *** However, I may add some to any leftover mix I have. First time trying dried mustard in over 10 years in one of these. I couldn't remember if it actually did much.

Should mention I think I will sweeten the milk and egg dredge. I may just use sugar as that's what I have. Thinking 1 tsp to try as a first attempt.

I like that in both of your recipes Celery is having a come back to the front!
Celery is perfect with chicken, it is hard to imagine the Colonel who used it in his BBQ sause didn't like it in his chicken.
