I think it was verified by a person on the sale site that this tin was from the 70’s. In the 70’s weren’t they around the 3lb salt weight though?

There was a OVERLAP and or Transition Time period. When KFC New AGE was changing Salt Grinds and experimenting with MORE extracts.
Extracts CANNOT be sprayed onto Popcorn Salt it has to be Sprayed on Diamond Salt.
so Yes your correct 3lbs was used in that Time period BUT it was NOT the Salt used in the Pre-mixed KFC seasoning and salt mix.
Please Keep in Mind that the weight of the Salt that is seasoned and sprayed extract onto changed weight
The weights below are for a single Application seasoned salt NOT multiple spray season salt extract

4 pounds and 12 ounces = 2,15 kg so it tells everyone that Seasoning Minimum is 2 Pounds 7 ounces. Your second line statement does not evolve logically from your first line statement. No matter what weight of overall complete coating one begins with the "ratio" of salt by weight to all other components by weight within it must remain firmly as a "constant", else it will be relatively easy to decide simply via tasting it side by side with KFC_OR that the deep fried chicken which springs from the coating is not at the same "ratio" level of saltiness, being either more, or less Salty. Your statements contain no concept of "ratio". They therefore appear to be merely random statements. What firmly established ratio constant would result in 4.75 Lbs. containing 2.4375 Lbs. of H&S? The complete mixes (sans flour) which I've made to date generally weigh in at 44 grams (give or take some small measure). When ~29-30 grams of this 44 gram mix is Salt, the resulting deep fried chicken, when eaten side by side with real KFC_OR yields a perception of Salt "ratio" equivalence between my and KFC's coatings. The fixed "percentage" ratio one derives from this is between the bounded extremes of 29/44 x 100 = 65.91%, and 30/44 x 100 = 68.182%. Extending this ratio to a tin which contains 2,154.57 grams (aKa 4.75 Lbs.) results in: 65.91% of 2,154.57 grams = 1,420.08 grams of salt = 3.1307 Lbs. = 3 Lbs. 2.09 Oz. of Salt (which rounds to 3 Lbs. 2 Oz.) 68.182% of 2,154.57 grams = 1,469.03 grams of Salt = 3.2386 Lbs. = 3 Lbs. 3.82 Oz.of Salt (which rounds to 3 Lbs. 4 Oz.) Thus my initial educated guess that the tin contains 3 Lbs. 3 Oz. of Salt. And that leaves only 25 Oz. as H&S. (Which is 1 Lb. 9 Oz. of H&S)

I.E., There is no logical correlation.

I.E., There is no logical correlation.
Except we speculate that items were removed from the original 99x. And they may have been replaced with more salt. The original 99x can had a contains no more than 11% for salt. Say around 2.6oz. Samples today are over 5oz Point I’m making is 25 or 26oz is not a revelation of a number. It would seem quite normal. This tin all though old isn’t the silver bullet.

I do buy that at one point there was a container or bag of either 2.5 or 5lbs. That most likely contained real spices and herbs. Likely more pepper. May or may not have had MSG. And may have had some extra salt.
This tin isn’t it.

Yes your Math is correct by definition of calculation.
Read The Label
KFC Seasoning and Salt
there was Label laws which CLEARLY state that the highest Volume item be list FIRST in relationship to all other Following items Listed or be equal to the preceding Ingredient.
KFC Seasoning is listed First. which means it HAS to be either 50% of Content or 51% of content. They have Listed KFC SEASONING as 1 item NOT 11 which is allowed in that time period BUT then the rule of Highest volume item be Listed FIRST,
The Can Does NOT read Salt and KFC Seasoning.
so UNLESS you are indication that KFC NEW AGE CORPORATION has broke IMPORT regulations and Label Laws under the packaging laws then YES SALT would and could be 3LBS One could say well they used etracts ETC ETC ETC.
Principle Rule still over rides and would be that the KFC Seasoning would be heavier or equal to 1/2 of the Overall weight of 4 pounds 12 ounces plus 1% after a 50% amount it would be a 51% KFC Seasoning and 49% Salt or a 50% KFC Seasoning and 50% Salt.
so I guess if your weights are correct KFC NEW AGE corporation has BROKE FEDERAL LAWS of Packaging. I DO NOT THINK SO LOL LOL LOL.
DO you know KFC has pulled out of 3 countries when they were ASKED to COMPLY with LABEL LAWS and closed the stores. I would NOTE Australia and New Zealand HAVE NOT pulled KFC license to do business which would mean that they are Label compliant.
This is ONLY my observation and understanding which unfortunately does NOT match others FACT BASED Assessment of Label Laws.
DO NOT COMPARE 99x and its weight to Flour Mix.
EVERYONE WHO HAS tried 99x and eaten it say the seasoning is TOO WEEK.

I have wrote EVERY EVERY COUNTRY repeatedly for there Laws of Label and had them describe the way it works. I have imported 10,000s of LBS of spices from countries in my life time and had to have Country of origin and descriptions of Seasoning and Spices HAVE had them held up at CRA aka Canada Customs until further Label clarification has been obtained to allow entry of items to Canada.
I have had to Pay $10 of thousands of dollars to Bond, store, transport Spices and Seasoning INTO CANADA.
YOU DO NOT SCREW AROUND WITH COUNTRY OF ORIGIN AND IMPORT LABEL LAWS serious offense.

The photo of the NZ tin (or wound fiberboard cylinder) does not indicate any ingredients. It merely says to add 10 Kg. of flour, and to "NOT" add Salt. Thus we must infer the Salt weight.

If the essential "original recipe" taste is to be "nominally" retained, then one can infer that as time has past the Pepper, MSG, and H&S levels have declined due to (respectively) a transformation toward the use of Pepper Extractives (likely the first change made), then to MSG enhancers allowing for a vast reduction in actual MSG (likely the second change made), and lastly a reduction in H&S which was supplanted with various of direct offset H&S extratives, PLUS "overall" flavor boosters which transcend beyond MSG, such as hydrolized and/or autolyzed yeast and yeast extratives, etc...
Of late I'm becoming of the opinion that the first of these changes occurred before the 40 Oz. plastic bag. Plastic bags first appeared to become widely used in the early to mid 1960's.
