On second thought, Star-Anise probably doesn't have enough of a Clove nature in and of itself, meaning that Clove would also be required. This would either force one to kick out Mace, or give up on Star-Anise as being suitable in a 5 ingredients recipe.

If you were restricted to 5 ingredients beyond B&W Pepper, and you also wanted to pack everything into a 25 ounce container, and also have it season 25 pounds of flour, what might you concoct? Here's my solution to this absolutely Herculean set of restrictions:  |

I would think a tarragon, Marjoram, or Oregano might be 1 of the items ?

Fresh French Tarragon (which is growing right now in our garden) would be a means to bring in the licorice component. That plus the nuttiness component (I.E., Coriander Seed) was in need of a boost.  |

It seems to me that established legal precedent decrees that recipes with only 5 H&S ingredients beyond B&W Pepper should no longer be considered to be threatening with regard to KFC's protective interest in 11 overall H&S. So a recipe on the order of the 40 ounce compliant one seen directly above should be fair game even at the commercial level. Does this sound right?

CHS ORIGINALLY always called it 11 Spice & Herbs
The New Age KFC changed it to 11 Herbs and Spices
