Caraway was used much more prior to Anise in the 1930's
they are both a similar item BUT the Caraway has a more unique flavor and NOTE when deep fried.
If you try the caraway you may see a more unique NOTE in cooking.
it does go good with a few other spice, Dill Parsley, Cumin, Tarragon
when combined with others it does pack a Flavor that's Quick and somewhat have as a stand alone item. BUT combined with 10 other items it transfers nice and tones down.
its under rated as a spice BUT was very common in the 1930's even in most house holds because a little went a long way and was used with side dishes like carrots and Parsnip.
Caraway and Fennel were often used in Sausage and a either or spice used in sausage.
Caraway and Mace fell into a drop off spice in the spice world
Fennel and Nutmeg took both place. BUT they are BOTH in different leagues from Caraway and Mace.
Caraway Does pack a punch
old scales weights it at 1 teaspoon whole caraway seed = 2.1 grams
1 teaspoon Goes a long way.
Rye Bread is the most common use for it - OH that appears to be a Flour related item ? I guess it pairs well with flour and yeast when cooked ?

Why can't I stop thinking about Caraway Seeds as a potential KFC_OR_Like ingredient?

Why can't I stop thinking about Caraway Seeds as a potential KFC_OR_Like ingredient? Be careful or you will end up down a road like did with wanting to add Cardamom. A couple nights worth of research and analysis on poultry seasonings LOL

You cannot be low amount with a caraway seed.
In most Rye Bread or Bread recipes they use a good amount
2 teaspoons for a KFC recipe I would think

Try some caraway seed with Plain Macaroni and a little butter see if you have a KFC AH HA moment of some similar flavor.
KFC Massey and Brown when asked about ingredients one time said the OR never had any allergen in it?
They have never posted Mustard as a Allergen on the OR chicken. Some popcorn chicken have said MAY be produced on a line where Mustard was present?.
KFC Proudly Prints on the Ingredient Garlic & Onion Powders of Flakes ?
Is there laws which say Garlic or Onion must be printed on Label's in your countries ?

for a taste test do it both was
I put some caraway seed unground so I can crunch it the teeth and see taste and I also use some ground
By doing that test you get a taste of both ways.
I have had and seen many professional cooks and people who are afraid of tasting spices on Eggs whites, Rice, or Pasta cooked. BUT they are ALL a perfect base for testing the spices.
with rice I have even done a small amount with the Spice added to the water and cooked either stove or Microwave a Minute Rice Either are a platform for flavor NOT being used to preform open heart surgery were a failed test will cause a serious situation.
its easier to test Spices, on a simple item then a big Batch.
we have spray lined Muffin Tins and Buttered the muffin tins or Oil the Tins and mixed different spices into different Muffin Holes. Baked it in the OVEN to cook the rice and taste different spiced rice with INDIVIDUAL spices or Blends. three or four tablespoons fill large Muffin tins. or 1 Milk container of egg white pre-separated is a cheap tested mixed with spices and egg white Baked.
You are Only looking for a Flavor and Aroma from the different Muffin Tins ?
you Do NOT only have to test the Spices on Fried Chicken CHS said his 11 Herbs and Spice go on Everything.
KFC has had it on the Chicken Every cut, Roast Beef, Pork Ribs they sold ALL of them over the decade. The 11 Herbs and Spices are in the Gravy
Do not be afraid to test your 11 Herbs and Spice ON a Dish other then Chicken or try it on Pan fried Chicken or Panini or George foreman Pressed Chicken

I was wrong as to my initial assessment that my Caraway Seeds exhibit zero Anise/Licorice odor. When I was adding it to the grinder today I smelled a bit of Anise/Licorice. Nowhere near what I smell for Star-Anise though. A nice smell overall.

We use Caraway Seed in our Sausage Recipes and IT is a MUST in the Sausage Making it CANNOT be left out. When we have tried to leave it out our Customer Public complained that there was something wrong with the sausage compared to the last one they purchased or ate ?
we use caraway in our Spaghetti's Sause and Stews, or soups. It Does add a Flavor to Stuffing also
OUR RYE Bread and sandwiches with Rye Bread that contains the Caraway is in OUR TOP 2 sandwich ordered Sales
So overall feeling is a under rated spice.
Try it or NOT Try it in your recipes BUT unless you Try it you will NOT know the Like or Dislike in your cooking. as for running Down a Rabbit Hole attempting something with a Different Spice My comment is if you don't try other items you will ONLY be STUCK in the SAME KEN FORUM Rabbit hole ?
Remember CHS Added 1 NEW Element the Number 12 Item, MSG and Never looked back when he added it and said it made the Biggest difference EVER in the Chicken

All of the recent buzz about Caraway Seed is beginning to intrigue and tempt me. When it comes to determining what it might deliver, I'm reminded of the trite colloquialism "Go big, or go home!". Therefore:
