KFC of the early 70's was still reminiscent of the much older original KFC from C.H.S. it had the Original style crust NOT the Golden Brown crispy NEW AGE chickens.

Geez people! Set your egos aside! Its chicken ffs! Its only us "old folk" that recall the chicken of old. In Canada, we were the last to appreciate the original recipe until the early 2000's. And I thought thats what this site was about (I and others assumed ?). Maybe I'm wrong 'bout that'.
Maybe splitting the forum into categories such as: country / year is where we need to go. Albeit cumbersome and confusing. Willie has a memory that goes back to no where one else can. Pretty hard to compete with that. Myself, I remember eating KFC starting in the early 60's. Silver has "the note" creation nailed down imo. But what I see lacking is the caky/fluffy texture with visible herbs showing in it (i'm talking 60's chicken).

If you want todays New Age KFC Taste Just use Dustin aka Kens recipe like YouTubers suggest Both Glen and fiends and the other Youtuber who made 5 or so recipes and said that Dustin's aka Kens was similar to KFC NEW AGE Actually Glen didn't fully say this. He emphasized that he tasted an odd and highly off flavor which he identified as Clove in Dustin's recipe and didn't taste any Clove in KFC. Dustin's recipe primarily seemed to receive praise on Glen and Friends for achieving the pepper level (or perhaps the noticeable mild lingering pepper bite, as I call it) of KFC.

To get back on topic, have any of us on this forum tasted 99-X at the MK advised addition quantity level whereby to inform the rest of us as to whether or not it delivers the elusive note and actually tastes as good as KFC OR?

This thread is the forum in a nutshell. Someone asks a simple question and the spirit of Rosy is back. Rosy retrospection, also called nostalgia bias. Idealisation, selective memories, emotional attachments. Given these cognitive biases and psychological factors, it is virtually impossible for individuals to make accurate comparisons regarding the taste of recipes from different time periods and regions.
In other words: When there is no general consensus regarding the flavour of KFC in year X, Y or Z, asking for a particular year becomes irrelevant.
To my dear old-timers. With all due respect. Have you ever considered that when you boast about the flavour experience of a recipe from 50+ years ago, you're essentially acknowledging your inability to replicate that very taste over the course of half a century? To my knowledge, this nostalgia snobbery never produced a single recipe that would challenge Dustin's. So bashing him ultimately is your only defence?

I will comment as like and similar to many who tried it on YouTube and also John O who was one of the First to Do a YouTube on 99x
Weak Flavor when Mixed as Directed Minimal Aroma But some Aroma on a lower level to K.F.C.
Personal Experience There have been Containers of Newer Aged 99x we had to add between 30% - 50% More then Directed. The Original Marion Kay 99x which was in Bags was Mixed as Directed and Full of flavor Never had to add additional amounts.
I have been asked on Multiple occasion if I would OPEN the Old Bags of Marion kay Chicken Seasoning and Compare it with the New Containers of 99x currently sold or compare the either against the Hand written note of C.H.S. chicken recipe which is confirmed C.H.S. Hand writing.
currently I'm NOT prepared to Open the Old Bags of Marion Kay Chicken Seasoning they are Memorial Un-Open as they are.
I have started to look for the Oldest Photo of the Spice from Open Bags Decades ago.
I can say that the current powder 99x is more refined and fine powder containing little to NO large spec or flakes except some Pepper specs. The Old Bags had more visible notices spec's and Flecks flakes of Spices and Herbs
Both Bill S and Other Old Family admitted the recipe was changed after the Court Case.

Personal Experience There have been Containers of Newer Aged 99x we had to add between 30% - 50% More then Directed. I'll focus upon this, as it is indeed fitting to the subject of this thread. And I'll ask:
When scaled to 200 grams of flour MK's advice is to add 12.5 grams of their seasoning mix. 17 grams added is a 36% increase, in line with your personal experience. So when adding 17 grams instead of the recommended 12.5 grams, does 99-X evolve sufficient of the distinct and unique flavor note of KFC OR so as to effectively be a clone?
No lengthy diatribe please. Remain focused. Concise answers.

A potential 99-X_Like recipe zinged to 17 grams: 200 grams Flour 24 grams Salt ------------------------ 4.00 grams MSG 4.00 grams Salt 2.50 grams White Pepper [1] 2.50 grams Black Pepper (Medium Coarse) [2] 1.00 grams Sage [3] 1.00 grams Coriander [4] 0.625 grams Ginger [5] 0.333 grams Cayenne Pepper [6] 0.333 grams Allspice [7] 0.333 grams Savory [8] 0.125 grams Marjoram [9] 0.125 grams Thyme [10] 0.125 grams Clove [11] Sum below the dashed line = 17 grams
Edit: My 'Spidey Senses' are tingling in the anticipation that this recipe may actually taste pretty good. Valued open forum thoughts on this are appreciated.

I pondered adding 0.125 grams of Star-Anise instead of Thyme. With Savory, Thyme is very likely redundant. That plus the presence of Thyme has spoiled some of my past recipes.
Since Thyme expresses both Thymol and Carvacrol, it may be wise to also swap out Marjoram for Oregano in addition to the above change, as Oregano brings back the Carvacrol. That plus Marjoram and Savory in combination are highly redundant.
Putting it all together, the revision now looks like this:
200 grams Flour 24 grams Salt ---------------- 4.00 grams MSG 4.00 grams Salt 2.50 grams White Pepper [1] 2.50 grams Black Pepper (Medium Coarse) [2] 1.00 grams Sage [3] 1.00 grams Coriander [4] 0.625 grams Ginger [5] 0.333 grams Cayenne Pepper [6] 0.333 grams Allspice [7] 0.333 grams Savory [8] 0.125 grams Oregano [9] 0.125 grams Star-Anise [10] 0.125 grams Clove [11]
Sum below the dashed line = 17 grams
Advantages: -----------------------
Adds Licorice (my Wife says licorice/Star-Anise assists with bringing a very beneficial "balanced roundness" [her terminology] to my recipes)
Adds Sweetness Only 3 herbs, in keeping with the vials
