Of exclusively those who have tried 99-X, how close do you perceive it to be to real KFC OR?
To those of us who have never experienced 99-Xould you say 99-X or no 99-X (I.E., yes, definitely purchase it, or no, don't bother purchasing it)

Also, if 99-X is close but not quite there, have you been able to tweak it whereby to effectively hit a bullseye match to KFC OR (or get it close enough for all practical purposes)? And if so, how?

We already know just from the bag Ingredients of the GGG Nephew’s 99x. It’s changed to what you get today.
No or lowered Allspice and Red Pepper are givens. And the difference between about 2.65 oz of salt back them to over 5oz today could suggest other ingredients removed and or lowered.

This thread has drifted, and is not addressing the subject.

Are we playing dodge ball? Which KFC? If it tastes similar to today's KFC, then whoop-de-doo.

Are we playing dodge ball? Which KFC? If it tastes similar to today's KFC, then whoop-de-doo. No one is compelled to answer your irrelevant question simply because you asked it. I believe this to be quite akin your position in regard to DFN insisting that you be his legal council simply because he asked you to, and then DFN needlessly rubbed it in over and over again just as you are doing now.
But to humor you, there is currently only one KFC OR available with which to compare it, and exactly none of us have sufficient flavor recall by which to conjure up the precise flavor of KFC from circa 60 - 65 years ago whereby to compare it to 99-X.
Bottom line: If modern day 99-X fails to compare with or taste better than modern day KFC, then modern day 99-X would appear to be a failure.

I'll step in here. I too get frustrated when someone either says they solved or posts a recipe without any reference. So are you cloning today's KFC, which I would say is a waste of your time and can be accomplished a lot easier. Or, is there some memorable time for you and you are trying to recreate that. 1939, 1965, 1975, 1980 etc. And Silver I agree that perception or recollection of that taste is subjective. But by stating the recipe is for the OR 1939 version. I wouldn't expect it to taste like today's crap. But I would expect to taste the essence "note" of KFC and I suspect in a more pronounced way. I do say it's fair to ask if anyone has made or does today's 99x taste like today's KFC.

If you want todays New Age KFC Taste
Just use Dustin aka Kens recipe like YouTubers suggest
Both Glen and fiends and the other Youtuber who made 5 or so recipes and said that Dustin's aka Kens was similar to KFC NEW AGE
