Read the Interview 3rd Paragraph Top to Bottom CHS used the 11 Herbs and Spices for 16 years before the Cumberland Lake episode I guess he just made up the Time Period and of 16 years using it Spices for 16 years before Cumberland Lake This is JUST 1 Article which CHS said the SAME THING The 11 Spices and Herbs were made in 1939 and Cumberland Lake was approximately 1955 / 1956 Era. I know its Does NOT say what you want it to say or its NOT what was Printed Blah, Blah, Blah I spoke to the Newspaper Writer for clarification about the Article. Thanks to crazyforchicken I was able to open and read it. What struck me was that when CHS was asked how many days he toiled before hitting upon his secret recipe his response was "scarcely a day or two". |

It seems that he almost had to have used pre-packaged and already available blends. Otherwise he would be just like most of the rest of us, endlessly trying different blends of stuff, while never getting anywhere.

I can say this from what Claudia had referenced
CHS was trying different chicken things for Years. Flour Salt Pepper and the odd spice BUT he spent MORE time with Oils, shortening and time of cook ETC.
BUT in the Over-All time period of the spices he mixed was possibly only Days worth BUT different attempts over time.
figurative speaking he Possibly ONLY had a handful of spice and herbs days BUT many other days wit amount ETC.
its like some music writers say they wrote a song in 15 Minutes but had the idea for a long time example.
CHS said that he Started with Flour, Salt, Pepper, then started adding spices and herbs that the Family liked until he go to around 10 or 11 we know Salt was Never included in the 11 Spices and Herbs that's 100% Pepper he always seemed to put in the same Bracket as Salt (Salt & Pepper Table condiments)
He used Parsley in everything, He used Lot's White Pepper in other recipes and Pepper Fresh Ground,
He spoke about Mace and what it did for Donuts which he loved.
Ginger and Cinnamon were items He spoke often about and Marion Kay had the Best.
He always spoke about his Mother Cooking and what she used - He admired her and those items were IN his Heart from Memories.
The problem becomes what your are a Prize Bull like he said KFC NEW AGE showed him you get adapted to a certain way of speaking I have audio of some Outtakes for Radio and T.V. ads CHS worked on there were more out takes of CHS saying 11 Spices and Herbs then the scripted 11 Herbs & spices that KFC NEW AGE pushed. so your comfort of talk is what flows naturally and that is usually from Patterned or imprinted the errors were from NON natural to his native tongue
NEW Age KFC never hid the Flour, Salt, Pepper from Day 1 as CHS always said He started with Flour, Salt, Pepper. why hide what has been given away for all CHS time ?
ONE THING many are NOT accounting for is CHS swore and was cusing ALL THE TIME BUT he had some honor and respect to Not beat around the bush with some words and relied on the Honor System for 5 Cents royalty.
Listen to his native Words he used BUT the ones before he was a Prize Bull or when he was learning to be one.
In Canada he said Savory was in the Recipe was that a Gaslite? I DO NOT think so.
He was MAD about the Ginger issue NEW AGE switched and HE told everyone what he though NO filter, of words, and GOT sue in 1975 for it.
this is ALL my opinion
sorry silver my answer is I think CHS only took Days to figure out what 11 Spices and herbsso he put in BUT it was over a time period from 1937 - 1939.
so 730 days ~ + or - 1 or 2 days Final Answer
