There is a difference between saying "I got this recipe from a liable/contracted/restricted source, and it is the real McCoy", and "I researched all available sources and this recipe I developed on my own, appears to be the real McCoy". Particularly when the new recipe is not the contracted one, and the old recipe that was contracted, is no longer in use.
If KFC tried to sue to prevent the dispersion of the recipe in question, which is already Worldwide, then they would be basically "abandoning" the authenticity of the recipe to the public domain themselves.

I guess I know who the big dog is. Guess I'll go it alone. Follow the big dog and decide if it is 1/64th, 1/32nd, 1/16th, 1/8th, 1/4th, or 1/2 of whatever you proclaim is in, when there is not one scintilla of any evidence for it.

Take equal amounts of salt, sage, allspice, bay leaf and tarragon and grind together using pestle and mortar. Let meld at least two days. Taste it. Is this the taste sought?
