Savory was available in The USA 1930's Licorice Root was available more in the Pharmacy Type Locations Penick's Brand Name

Licorice was available at local markets for kids to chew on in 1939. Paprika, when in sufficient quantities, gives a sweet taste.

A source of bad aftertaste has been discovered in the Knorr chicken bouillon cubes. Won't use them again.

That Does NOT make sense to Have a Bad after taste from a Base type item would have expected a Salt after taste ?

It is what it is. Nasty aftertaste, sticking to tongue like oil.

Perhaps the fats and/or oils within the cubes became oxidized?

Just now took them out of the oil. You must double dip livers and gizzards.
