If Mexican Oregano can replace Mediterranean Oregano, Marjoram, Savory, and Thyme, it lends itself to something like this:

Might Colonel Sanders have learned about Mexican Oregano when he enlisted in the military and was stationed in Cuba?
Could Mexican Oregano be one of the "surprises" we were warned to anticipate in regard to the OR?

Might Colonel Sanders have learned about Mexican Oregano when he enlisted in the military and was stationed in Cuba? Could Mexican Oregano be one of the "surprises" we were warned to anticipate in regard to the OR? Maybe, but he was only 16, and it only lasted 4 months until he got kicked out, so its more likely he saw it and used it as an adult chef. Another surprise could be liquid in his egg dip that was revised to powder by the time it was franchised, like Kitchen Bouquet, or A1 or Worcestershire, or table syrup, sorghum, almond orgeat syrup etc. or some newish at the time high tech powder like Preem non-dairy coffee lightener, or something like gravy master. One would think the honey dip idea that famous recipe uses came from somewhere….
