Do a Direct Test between Oregano and Mexican Sage (PURE Spices) You should have the same or similar Taste BUT if you use CRAP items you will see a drastic difference between the Items taste. Sorry that What I say contradicts GGG Anthony I Did NOT make the Reference between Oregano and Mexican Sage it's the OLD SPICE companies who did

deepfriednew101, an internet search indicates that more than one Herb has been (an is) tagged with the name "Mexican Sage". Are you referring to Lippia graveolens when you refer to Mexican Oregano/Sage?

Smoke and mirrors. We must have said something important or correct when DF pulls the Mexican Sage card.
Edit: Just realised he did not bring it up this time. So I apologise.

A distraction tactic. The issue is one person here in my opinion still believes after all that’s been posted. He holds a key that he will give them.

99% of the ingredients to get you to what is most likely a mid 70’s version of both 99x and Grace’s exists in the last couple pages. Time is better spent working on this for a while. Cook a couple attempts.
I ate the most amount of KFC in the late 60’s early 70’s in Canada. So this is likely what I ate anyway.

You were fortunate to live in Canada, where CHS was in charge and the OR likely stayed uncorrupted far longer than elsewhere.

East Frisian and Others: Mexican Oregano Is Not listed in a 1980's Recipe which Glen references BOTH his Canadian Contact and Karl's examples referencing to in the Video, say Sage with NO reference to Oregano The recipe IS NOT a Original Recipe and It is NOT Tommy S 1960's recipe that NEW AGE started legal proceeding against them. I have stated MY View that Mexican Oregano was Originally Used, which is also Label Sage ONE AND THE SAME (NOT cheap Oregano or cheap Sage) deepfriednew101, I'm asking a second time, since there was no answer the first time:
Since several wildly different plant species go by the name 'Mexican Sage', when you say (as you have) that Mexican Sage is in the recipe we all seek here, which species/variety of plant are you referring to as Mexican Oregano/Sage? Is it Lippia graveolens, or might you be honest and say that you really don't know?

Personally I have Never looked into which Plant was used and Typically The Spice Companies Do Not release the Information.
I will Have to contact the Spice companies to see which they are using currently.
As for Information ON the Recipe It Does NOT specify which Species and the ONLY way to Cross Reference it would be in reference to the Photo's of C.H.S. Kitchen to a respectful Year and see what Company Tins were on His pantry shelves' then cross reference the Company to a Possible Plant they used.
Respectfully WAISTE of Time Currently in the 2023 Era Now there is ONLY one way to work the issue of Spices and Herbs Due to shortage of Items
YOU Get the One you can and or You find the Only which works the Best for YOUR Taste. Currently We Have 3 spices Backordered From the Largest suppliers In the Country we Use, and it creates a Issue, as using other Company Spices is Hard on Consistent recipes.
My recommendation Pick the ONE which Has the Most Pure Flavor your Family enjoy which is What C.H.S. Did.
Ask Marion kay which plant they are using or see there web site as they Try and source HIGH quality items.
Sorry the answer is NOT specific and perfect BUT I will See if the Spice Company can Break Down what Origin the Item came from OR if it even List the spec's for ALL knowledge when a Person buys BULK large Quantities as we Order spices in 5Lbs Bags to 50Lbs Bag Size. ALL our pepper is 50Lbs Box with NO indication of a specific definition either of spec's
