Yes Leon Pete Harmon started Kentucky Fried Chicken in what many list as August 1952 But that Date would NOT be correct and why Do I say that Date is incorrect ?
C.H.S. went to Australia for the Mission in April of 1952 NOT August ?
So unless many claim that August was the Date it is close BUT may or may Not be the original first meeting date, and when Leon Pete started a frenzy, cooking chicken.
it was Leon Pete Frenzy that made other think about the KFC Chicken.
Canada Started after Leon Pete Harmon chicken was being talked about. C.H.S. still owned the Corbin Cafe' when Canada started a Franchise.
C.H.S. was asked to make the K.F.C. chicken for Noe, and lived miles from the Boat launch. where the Corbin KFC Museum is located.
C.H.S. said he catered the 500 Piece chicken order in Large Trays and the side in Large Trays. it was NOT buckets or cardboard take out boxes.
C.H.S. sold his Cafe' ONE YEAR after the Cumberland lake event.

There should be a public record of the sale of his Restaurant/Gas Station.

In the spirit of sharing. For those looking at timelines. March 7, 1956 is when he sold Sander’s Court Cafe That means the likely time based on the info is the boat trip happened no earlier than spring 1954 and later than summer 1955. Now if deepfriednew101 can share the newspaper article with the exact date. It would firm up my timelines

My radical thought for the day:
What if CHS made a decent deep fried chicken recipe, but Pete Harmon hit the recipe out of the park by tweaking it on his own?

It looks so far from a timeline perspective that Pete could have had some input on the last mystery boat trip ingredient. 3 years selling the chicken and might have gotten some feedback too

CHS was at a food convention, maybe 1952. A fortune teller predicted he would come into some money, and the next year he sold his "cafe". This is supposedly when the lake order came in. Ken and I argued about this for years. I don't know that I've saved the information, but my memories' horde tells me it was 1953. Reflection integrated the lake's name into the story. I have raised a supposition, now disprove it. CHS finally had the money he needed to go bigtime.

The chicken order boat story is the date I need.
