Basil is somewhat unique in that it contains both Eugenol oil and Linalool oil. That makes it a top contender in my book for having been one of the 11 original Herbs & Spices. Basil can 'potentially' replace both Allspice and Coriander, assisting one with staying within the confines of 11 H&S. Basil has about 4-5 times more Linalool than it does Eugenol. But it has about half of the Linalool of Coriander. So it likely needs to be added at a rather high amount, at least doubling Coriander by weight when replacing it. By doubling the weight of Basil (with respect to Coriander) the Eugenol is also beneficially boosted. journals.sagepub.com/doi/pdf/10.1177/1934578X1000500634www.lavenderandspice.com/scents/basil

Perhaps the missing 1 ounce within a 25 ounce container of 99-X is an ounce of ground/dried Basil?

Basil has about 1/4 the Eugenol of Allspice. I'm thinking that 1.2 grams of Basil would replace ~0.6 grams of Coriander and ~0.3 grams of Allspice. The downfalls in this are:
1) 1.2 grams replacing 0.9 grams. 2) Not much (if any) Cinnamon, Nutmeg, and Clove essence.

Basil likely said bye-bye when the 26 ounce bag was introduced.

A potential Basil containing recipe might look something like this:

Or perhaps better yet, this one (which puts back the Cinnamon and Nutmeg lost when replacing Allspice with Basil): Yet more thinking outside of the proverbial box, whereby to break the rut...

Basil and Dill are 2 Old Time Fresh Herbs / Spices ETC
They both are very great items and OLD Cooks will tell you that they always used the Fresh items in many cooking dishes it was a second best to Onions and Garlic.
The Aroma of the Basil and Dill cooking for a White Sauce for chicken is a unreal Aroma

Apparently Basil and Tarragon play really well together. And they both deliver Eugenol.
