That's 20 ingredients without counting B&W Pepper.

I wonder if the Egyptian words for "May Contain" are to be found upon the bag? As in: This package "may contain" any of these 20 listed ingredients. With an implied: but not necessarily all at the same time...

I don't think it's fake news, but how would I know? What I do think is that there are multiple paths to the brass ring. I'm not going to jump right in and try to juggle 20 ingredients. I'm trying to determine if something well shy of 11 is sufficient, as can be seen by my latest speculative recipe proposal. Speculative, but not random as to ingredients or ingredient weights.

Thnx, East!! Nice job! Silver, if you take out the spices that may be commonly used in Egypt, you see something very familiar. It also backs up the assertion that the KFC recipe is altered to adjust to a target market country. 1. Sweet Paprika 2. Anise Seed 3. Basil 4. Caraway 5. Green Cardamom 6. Celery 7. Dill 8. Fennel 9. Chili Pepper 10. Cinnamon 11. Ginger 12. Coriander 13. Garlic Powder 14. Sage 15. Vanilla
Watercress Cumin Saffron Turmeric Radish The first 15 is already commonly discussed. I too believe water cress is actually lemon grass. Radish is Daikon powder- often used to make fake wasabi. Cumin, saffron and cumin make the recipe fit the Egyptian taste. Of the familiar 15, I had removed dill years ago as the dill becomes more overpowering a day after frying: I have to take another look.

Dill Seed I presume. Not Dill weed.

The evil Dill weed. It melded very well the first day. But lo and behold, beware the third day! I kept cutting the amount. But I still wound up with the same result. I wonder if it’s used in KFC Europe. East?

KFC OR doesn't seem to taste like Dill Pickles, but as for any ingredient, and if Dill Weed is what is meant by Dill (wherein this may refer to the radically different 'Seed'), the secret seems to be to use it at quantities that do not smack you directly and identifiably in the face, but rather deliver subliminal benefits (like Anise Seed).

I never had Dill Seed, so I can't really tell. It is not a spice we use in Europe, you will not find it anywhere. We only use Dill Weed which you can find in every store. The Polish are obsessed with Dill Weed.
With regards to the Egyptian label, please note that for Anise, the specification 'Seed' is given. It literally says 'Seed Anise'. With Dill, this is not the case. But this doesn't rule anything out of course.
The words 'may contain' are not on the label.

Interesting that for Anise the word 'Seed' is present, but for 'Dill' it is not. Dill Seed tastes rather mundane, and vaguely along the lines of Coriander Seed, and exhibits none of the tart harshness of Dill Weed. But I tried Dill Seed as a substitute for Coriander Seed once and the nuttiness character that I'm always seeking amazingly vanished, so I rendered Dill Seed to the useless as an addition category. Perhaps I should try it again, or get truly brave and try Dill Weed.
