Hang in there Smallgree!! I often wonder why countries like the CCP do not compel the franchises to divulge the company secrets especially a company like KFC which does not have a patent on the recipe. In your legal background, perhaps you could shed light on the subject. If a nation like India in the 70s required foreign businesses like Coca-Cola to reduce equity to 40%, then as 60% government owned, the secrets could be known by the government. It’s possible that the CCP already knows the KFC process.
I often have a lot of trepidation in buying from Walmart and Amazon when I see a product is manufactured abroad like China just for the chain of information that is possibly being exchanged. I once tried to return an item and received an unintelligible call from China afterwards. Temu? Fuggetabbutit!! It’s like spying that is out in the open. Rant over.

How many g to add per 200 g mix? cfc You want to add enough that the cooked chicken will have a decent dispersed coating of visible specs of the seeds. I would add about 1 and a half teaspoon to about 300g flour. You also need to get them into tiny specs. You can't use them whole (well you could, won't be as good) but u definitely can't use them as powder and want to get rid of any powder from the specs. The best way is to simply run them through a pepper grinder, which is what i do, and you just use it as it comes out of the grinder. If you want to go a step further, you can sieve them after the grinder. And on a side note, they make the best burger patties you'll ever taste. I use my regular seasonings on my burger patties than sprinkle/push the seeds into the patties and the flavour is just incredible!

I just did a side by side comparison of Silver 17 with cracked nigella vs no nigella. Pressure fried 2 wings with the cracked seed, 1 wing 1 drum without. Pre breading dip of 1 egg beaten with 1 hefty TBSP of cornstarch. Drop temp 340 F with electric element on full glow. Open fried 2 min then capped tight till jiggler started. Reduced dial to 3 and cooked for a total of 13 min. Then covered in a 170 F oven for 45 min. Both delicious! But I didn't detect any difference in flavour between the two. And they didn't look much different either (sorry no pics!).
IMO, why would the colonel add an exotic spice such as nigella seed just for looks and no flavor boost?

IMO, why would the colonel add an exotic spice such as nigella seed just for looks and no flavor boost? cfc Nigella seeds adds flavour or why would anyone use it? the flavour is a subtle flavour. I already mentioned here before that it won't make a massive difference but there is a difference. He added it because it acts as a garnish and offers texture/crunch and some flavour. If it didn't add any flavour then why when i first ever tasted them on turkish bread my brain straight away associated them with the O.R? (this was before i discovered them on the actual chicken) and when i tasted them on the turkish bread i wasn't even thinking about, or cooking the recipe at that time. Also, keep in mind some batches can have weak flavour. I bought a big bag of it and it has just about no flavour compared to the smaller bag i bought of it. I can confirm 100% i picked off, and tasted them off the modern O.R chicken and you can do the same if you don't believe me. At first i thought maybe they just modified the recipe and added the nigella to it themselves, but when you see that there is a black vial, and the fact that Sanders loved baking bread (nigella seeds is a bread spice) it is obvious they are 100% in the recipe. So if you don't use them, you won't be recreating the O.R. Although i don't really use them on experimental attempts, and instead use them for my tuned recipes where i think i have it mostly right.

Not picking a fight bud. Just posting my observations. YMMV. Deep frying in hot oil is a far cry difference from being toasted on a bread crust. cfc I'm not trying to pick a fight? i simply gave you my thoughts and some more info about them. If you don't want to use them i really couldn't care less lol. Doesn't change the fact that they are being used in the recipe today at my local store. However, if you don't use them you won't be recreating the O.R. If you are refusing to use a literal ingredient of the recipe, what are you even doing on this site? you clearly not interested in the recipe, but instead your own version of what you think a fried chicken recipe should be. This also proves someone could post the literal recipe here right now and many people like you would doubt it l0l!

Deep frying in hot oil is a far cry difference lol? The temp of a hot oven can get much hotter than oil. And you bake bread longer in that heat longer than the seed would get cooked in oil on chicken. Think. And for you to say this, you are ignoring the part where i mentioned i tasted them over 20 times by picking them off the modern o.r drumsticks? clearly if i am able to detect their taste from TINY specs that were submerged in HOT OIL, then that proves the temp doesn't affect their flavour, and that they DO offer flavour. But whatever, you think you know better you do you bud.

1. There is a literal black vial that has long been debated as to what it could be.
2. I find a black spice on the literal modern O.R chicken that perfectly matches Vial C.
3. The spice is commonly used in bread baking, Sanders liked to bake bread.
But yes, let's all pretend we didn't hear this and carry on as usual. I really think alot of you don't want to crack the recipe, and would actually be upset if the entire recipe was posted here. Because you get more enjoyment out of larping as someone who somehow knows more than others, and when things like this nigella seed is posted, it takes that away from you. When you really don't know much more than anyone else.
I've spent way less time at this than most of you, and i definitely know much more than alot of you who've spent 10+ years at this. You all think your knowledge of Sanders history somehow means you know more than anybody else, but the knowledge you lack that matters the most is TASTE!
This spice is 100% part of the 11, and wasn't just added by the corp. You can easily get away without even using this spice, it really doesn't add much flavour except a light, grassy, chive/oniony taste. Yet they still decide to include it?
It took me 1 year from when i discovered this spice to finally posting it here. I literally was worried some of you might have discovered it based on my previous post about it before i ever discovered it "has anyone ever tried nigella or turmeric" i posted that before i discovered it on the literal chicken, which proves my instincts and taste is mostly spot on.
Anyway, i had nothing to worry about. I post the literal spice and still alot of you refuse to believe it LOL!

Taste, taste, taste. I've not been able to shop for nigella because of a female problem. It's taken me far too long to get rid of her, but she is gone for good. I guess there wasn't much else left in my house to steal. When you are a widower, and much too old, most of what is out there are fallen angels.
