In my opinion the two first vails are false. Look what CHS said in his book "The Autobiography of the Original Celebrity Chef":
So, salt and pepper are INCLUDED in the "11 herbs and spices" mix. If you take a closer look at the first two vails, "A" and "B" are written in inkt. The other letters are written down with a pencil. I refuse to believe that after two vails the colonel thought "I'll take a pencil now..." (?!). I think the two vails are replaced by KFC with two completly different vails because a vail filled with "white stuff" was too obvious.
I do believe that the second vail is MSG. So the list of "11 spices and herbs" has to start with:
[1] Salt
[2] MSG
And has to end with:
[11] (Black) Pepper
