There is the issue of seldom mentioned lavender and hyssop. I favor lavender for availability and it pairs well. It reminds me of basil in a way.

Lavender is a Great Item.
It was NOT a common item on shelves it was more Medicinal Used in the 1930-1940 NOT a Spice and Herb
In all attempts we tried for Seasoned Wings with Lavender it was a HIT or Miss ingredient and More MISS for our cooks of chicken wings. It does have a Great Aromatic smell. We found it to be ONE of the Harder Herbs to regulate with cooking it was very FINICKY ITEMS
If AANYONE has had success or Tips using the Lavender please add you input for help
This is My opinion

You can take a spice mix and pour it out on a piece of paper, to look at it, then return it all to the safe, then the paper will have the odor. My paper bowls I use to mix spices in all smell good enough to eat.

Like a Chicken Bucket 5 to 7 days after the chicken has ALL been eaten and is a room aromatic for a week.
We use paper funnels all the time to fill items or cone coffee filters with the bottom cut open cone shape works perfect for funnel
The KFC buckets loose the aroma after time. So that would NOT explain a safe with shelves of Paperwork and 2 items with spices that are sealed. Plus we are 1/2 century past the age of many of the items and more than 35 years post the making of the Vials in 1985.
it could be KFC is keeping aroma Fingernail replacement in the Safe as they made aromatic Replacement finger nails in China

First, there is little evidence proving who, when, or why anyone smelled anything from that safe. Second, You're comparing cooking oil aroma to "herb and spice" oil aroma. Third, there is a locked safe where odors cannot escape readily. Fourth, nobody is supposed to have access to that safe. If the statement was for misinformation, then knowing why could indicate something about the OR. Paranoia sometimes leads to unexpected discoveries, if you understand the nature of man.
If I was arguing a point, I would say that more than one or two people had access to that safe. That if the safe was not regularly used, then there must have been a reason why that person who made that statement was even in the safe. Was another person, or persons, in that safe earlier, and took a whiff of that mix, leaving that odor? Is it a lie that few had access to that safe? Is there a trusted sneak who likes to get into that safe and get a pinch or so of the OR? Is that jar mostly full, or mostly empty? Measure twice, saw once.
