Hello Murasaki. Welcome to the KFC Forum. Thank you for your contributions. Any information is welcome. Curious about your "Pink Pepper" though...

Murasaki, I don't want to be argumentative. I simply have a couple of questions about your recipe and the h&s used in Japan.
First, it's apparent that you believe the "vials" photo is merely a KFC marketing ploy because if you believe it you would need to limit your number of herbs to three (3). Am I correct in that conclusion?
Second, if the KFC Japan ingredient photo is correct, which I believe it is, it does not show Mustard seed. As I'm sure you know, Mustard seed is very tiny, much more so than the seeds shown in the mortar at the bottom of the photo. They could be the small seeds shown above the White Peppercorns, but I believe those are Coriander seeds. That brings up my next question. Why did you eliminate Coriander? The image you posted of the 8 h&s on a white plate which originally showed Coriander in the 12 o'clock position clearly shows seeds in that bowl which are too large and the wrong colour to be Mustard seeds.
That's the end of my questions for now, but I must tell you that on Saturday, May 11, I cooked up a recipe using the KFC Japan photo as my first 7 ingredients and it was terrific. I'm going to cook a minor modification of it again tomorrow using what I believe are the base ingredients; mixed Peppercorns, Rosemary, Ginger, Garlic, Coriander, Sage, Allspice plus 4 additional ingredients which I'll identify when I start my own thread. Hope you don't mind me tying up your thread like this.
I look forward to your reply.

Murasaki: "...on reading Sanders book he said in there, there are 11 Herbs, Spices and SEASONINGS not 11 Herbs 'n' Spices..."
Colonel: "...I knew something about food an' how to handle it; that's where I got my idea of... I know'd to take certain seasonings for sausage, certain seasonings for dressings, and you could take combinations of some of those items an' get another good seasoning... so, that's where I developed my chicken recipe..."
So if I am correct, some "spices" and "herbs" are actually dressing- and sausage- blends???

CHS was an articulate salesman and protected his recipe, in secrecy, by not being the village idiot. Nothing he said was 100% accurate. He could have been talking about anything to misdirect the interviewer. He was on 110% of the time.
