This is a good point to either support the 11 vials, or reject them. I can't see tomato powder in those vials without rejecting paprika, and other items. I believe the 11 vials are legit, but they don't reflect the entire recipe. The earliest seasoning bags show: MSG, White pepper, Black pepper, Herbs and spices, Garlic. My research shows that the 11 herbs and spices are the "Herbs and spices" listed as ingredients. If so, in order to fit tomato powder into vial C (or E for that matter), you would have to exclude paprika, and even clove, or star anise, if that is your choice. Years were spent analyzing the vials to come up with the foundation most use today for their base recipes. If you don't buy the 11 vials, then your entire lineup of ingredients are suspect.

Tomato powder could perfectly match vial A, thus keeping J for Paprika. Most commercial Tomato Powders I came across in real life, are rather pale, just like vial A.
However, having done my first attempts with actual Tomato Powder myself a few weeks ago now, it did not in any way, shape or form improve my chicken. There wasn't even a noticeable colour contribution. I would even say that the opposite is the case, it covers the finely tuned notes of the herbs and spices with an annoying vegetableish background sweetness. I don't think Tomatoes want to be fried. I will not use it again any time soon.

I only used red tomatoes, not yellow ones. Mine is almost black.

View there video where they used Tomato and ONLY a SMALL amount of it those were classified as some of the Better Chicken they made from there final reviews. They were the ONES who coined the Phrase TO MUCH Tomato will hurt the recipe.
ONLY information from others Cooking. THEY MADE 65 videos of attempts ? They were NOT afraid to Call out CRAP items or BAD CHICKEN like video # 3 or 4

There are Mexican dishes that use green tomatoes. It would have a more sour flavor and might need sugar to offset. Think tomatillo verde.
Fried green tomatoes are a southern staple, for example.
In the original press releases when the CHS autobiography was “found” and released, it was mentioned that KFC withheld some recipes.
One reason might be that it made use of an “special” ingredient that wasn’t mentioned elsewhere in his publications. Given the other dishes, it should be a southern dish. Mexican oregano, sorghum, epazote, green tomates, file’ powder, sweet tea etc. are candidates that come to mind.
