Savory contains carvacrol, and Oregano contains carvacrol. Savory also contains thymol, but Oregano does not. For Savory, that's pretty much the entire oils story. Thyme also contains thymol, but it does not have carvacrol. So beware that adding Savory is a lot like adding a combination of Oregano (or Marjoram) and Thyme. It might be that when one desires to boost Savory to the top of the heap, as for the "Secret Canadian Source" mentioned within the Glen and Friends KFC videos, one should consider not also adding Oregano or Thyme. But deepfriednew101 was correct when he recently stated that Thyme has many more dimensions of flavor than does Savory. Thyme delivers several flavor and aroma oils that are not found within Savory. Should the moral of this story be to dithch Savory, and add Thyme and Oregano, or Thyme and Marjoram? Edit: I should mention here that a few of the major oils which Thyme delivers are also found in Marjoram, but are not found in Oregano... So perhaps the better moral of this story (whereby to best not duplicate or compound oil additions) should be to ditch both Savory and Marjoram, and add both Thyme and a Mediterranean varietal of Oregano.

Keep in Mind ONE MUST test the Individual Items they Have in the Cooking Reach.
Some Thyme Fresh Sprigs or Thyme Leaves Have a BITE to them or a kick
Other Items also carry the same Quality a Over powering Quality ONE must Judge the Amount of the Thyme based on your Quality and Strength of the Herb.
I know Many Just think that you can use a Run of the MILL recipe with a 1,2,3 volume amount of either teaspoons, Tablespoons, or weight measurement
This can cause situations if the item you are using is Extremely Powerful or lack luster in flavor and only acting like a Filled and NOT any beneficial addition to the flavor.
