In my youth 'Big Boy' restaurant's (for which my local regions Big Boy franchise was called 'Manners Big Boy') served deep fried chicken that amazingly tasted a whole lot like Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Per Wikipedia:
Several franchises also held Kentucky Fried Chicken franchises and sold that chicken in their Big Boy restaurants. ... The practice was discouraged and Big Boy eventually provided a similar scheme of selling buckets of take out chicken, marketed as Country Style[111] or Country Cousin Chicken.[112] Franchises who resisted the change were forced to remove Kentucky Fried Chicken menu items and physically relocate those operations.
Manners (Northeastern Ohio (Cleveland TV market), 1954–1979, founded by Robert L. and Ramona Manners) Franchisee through Frisch's, used the Frisch styled mascot design. Like Frisch's, Manners was already established having opened Manners Drive-In in 1939, 15 years before becoming a Big Boy franchisee.[202] Paid Frisch's $10 per month for each location. In 1968 Manners Big Boy was sold to Consolidated Foods (now known as Sara Lee Corporation). Marriott purchased the 39 units in 1974 and five years later dropped the name "Manners".[203] Marriott sold 26 remaining restaurants to Elias Brothers in 1985.

I don't recall that Big Boy sold their chicken as KFC. I'm fairly sure that they sold it under their own 'Big Boy' name (but I was young, and could be mistaken here). After the Big Boy's were purged of KFC chicken, they still sold buckets of deep fried chicken, but it never tasted quite as good.

In Canada when CHS came he started in many Family Run hamburger Joints.
Burger King in Edmonton had Taken on KFC when NO ONE even knew what Piggyback Franchising was.
Burger King sold KFC chicken original as a added Chicken item and did not promote it as Kentucky Fried chicken they just sold Chicken.
It was served in the same Boxes KFC used, but NOT slogan as KFC on the Outside.
Many Drive Ins and Small placed put KFC signs in the window or took out ad's with KFC Brand as a feature item.
CHS also made changes to many Locations Hamburgers with Homemade Burgers the way he made them.
CHS also made Hamburgers which many people did not know and he had it on some menu's BUT was limited.

If it wasn't for the signature "Big Boy" burger, there would never have been a McDonald's "Big Mac". Micky-dee's copied the "Big Boy" to a tee. The Big Boy burger was around for at least a decade and a half or more before Mickey-D's cloned it.

A local restaurant by me used to offer KFC on their menu. Back in the mid to late 70’s. The people owned the KFC franchise as well and had it on the menu. It was more of a fine dinning place but as kids we ate KFC there. At some point they took it off the menu, but for a year or so, if you asked. You could get it

The New Age corporation Phased out ALL the little locations one by one and as the Original Owners retired KFC NEW AGE did not renew the contracts.
Also many of the small locations could NOT retrofit there Kitchens for the NEW AGE equipment.
Unfortunately things took a Major turn after Brown and Massey sold out and as every major NEW AGE CORPORATION PRESIDENT stepped in other changes happen.
CHS had a agreement with Heinz from Day 1 he liked there product and used it Tarragon Vinegar was a Major item. Plus other Dressings.
When KFC NEW AGE hired a NEW PRESIDENT it seemed like they also had there own visions of thinking they could cook chicken which always seems to be a disaster.
Supply Chain issue of 2020 and Covid is making them crazy I'm sure.
