I added 1 TSP of turmeric to 3 eggs and 2 TBSP of whipping cream, mixed it up, and fried it in butter. It was edible, but the tasted had a noticeable ragged edge to it that is indescribable, and the aroma was not very pleasing. It smelled far worse than it tasted, and overall it didn't taste all that great. It might have been better at 1/2 TSP of turmeric. But this experiment has me questioning it's value as to adding it to a KFC_like coating mix. I believe KFC uses turmeric extract for color, and not for flavor or aroma. The extract likely is greatly subdued in the flavor and aroma department.

I personally Agree with you Silver Turmeric Has been a spice that just never fit, Yes it will add a color BUT if I want color we use Mustard and place a Allergy Warning on the Listing or Menu.
There were a few test I though that it might be in KFC at Lower values and then reference it to MORE the NEW AGE KFC taste with it added as color.
If you notice the most recent KFC NEW ingredients list they have been using it more and more BUT KFC has changed there NEW AGE recipe 3 times in the last 2 years because of Spice Shortages.
This Next comment is a Very Serious statement and ONE only of personnel view. In a lifetime of which Growing personal gardens which still happens now and growing crops and raising Beef the situation of shortage of Food supply items is scary to say the least. Currently Our Beef sales have gone through the roof with sales Due to the shortages and People wanting 1/2 Beef. The sale for organic Beef is Massive over any other year we have had.
If we have worried about shortages it does not appear to be getting better. Cost of food have increase to over a 30% rise in prices and only warning of higher prices.
every Major Food Processor for retail packing are changing recipes and accepting LOW accepted product. The amount of recalls of Food Items in Canada and sure the USA have SKY ROCKETED We cannot go 2 days without Health Canada sending a warning or recall.
currently trying to use KFC NEW AGE As a Comparisons to Real KFC is useless The Flavor is NOT there and the Aroma is Extract enhanced from washed spices.
If KFC can make Cardboard Logs, Nail Polish, and candles have the Aroma of fried chicken one can NOT think otherwise that they are NOT also spiking the Aroma in the chicken.
In my opinion its the ONLY secret they have and NEED SAFE.
I have ordered extract 4 weeks ago and some are still back ordered the one I chose were a average of $80.00 a bottle for 8 Tablespoons of extract in a Bottle to 12 max.
when one taste KFC currently your Major players are the Flour, Salt, Pepper, and Oil taste in the Juice, there are hints of the Sage that are increasing as of late.
In a cooking contest on TV over the last year. I saw a program where they asked the Chefs what spices they would use on chicken and Thyme, Tarragon were the Two highest ones following Salt, and Pepper.
what was FUNNY was when they were asked which Spices or Herbs they would use Only a few mentioned Salt and Pepper, THEY rarely ever considered it a Spice or Herb.

The closest analogy I can make to the flavor of turmeric is the flavor you might get from chewing an aspirin tablet with a dash of pepper sprinkled on it. And add to that an awful smell.

Who cares if it's in KFC's OR recipe or not. @deeptaste101, given the option to use only one, would you favor Thyme over Savory (or visa-versa)?

I have printed this type of message before.
I create 50/50 Mixes of combination. that way I get the best out of BOTH items. YES it goes against the 11 Herb and Spice number game and 26oz limit
My question to EVERYONE IS THIS if you could NEVER make a COPYCAT EXACT OLD ORIGINAL KFC Chicken WITHOUT WITHOUT staying in the 11 Herb and Spice Number count it could NEVER HAPPEN what would you Do?
would you make it with 17 items and when you cooked it and everyone said WTF taste like KFC BUT better would you go into a LONG STORY but its 17 or 18 spices and Bore the Crap out of everyone with a story BUT ITS 18 spices or say Hell Ya it's better then KFC now its the ORIGINAL KFC and Shut your mouth about 17 or 18 spices
Then when they ask for the recipe and they count the Spice and Herbs and there are 17 or 18 items you can count it and say NO there are ONLY 11 Herbs and Spices. Pepper is a fruit, Nutmeg is a Fruit, Garlic, Onion and Celery are a veggie. and when your done eliminating the Fruits, Nuts, Allergens ETC ETC ETC and you say NO there are only 11 Herbs and Spices they can argue ALL they want you had put 11 Spices and Herbs in plus the 6,7,8 other items YOU never mislead ANYONE there are 11 Herbs and Spices in the recipe.
CAN SOMEONE FIND ME WHERE CHS or NEW AGE KFC or anyone has said and printed the RECIPE ONLY ONLY ONLY contains 11 Herbs and Spices.
Most ads say a recipe OF 11 secret Herbs and Spices IT DOES NOT SAY ONLY ONLY ONLY 11 Herbs and Spices.
Did you know it LEGAL to Trade Mark a item 7up or 11 Herbs and Spices AND IT had NOTHING TO DO WITH THE RECIPE complete list or items in the 7up or 11 Herbs and Spices
Garlic and Onion
Mace and Nutmeg
Rosemary and Thyme
Sage and Savory

From my personal experience, turmeric should be between .5 - .75 grams per 100 grams of flour. Anything above will spoil the flavour, anything below will not have enough impact. I would suggest using .5 grams for a more golden breading. It does not add to the note though in my opinion.

your Correct there will be No Note in Aroma and the flavor will only be a earthy tone if anything used lower amount and if to much it just is WRONG and wants to over power in a not flavorful manner I agree with 11serbs
