Way back in 1951-1952 Pete Harmon trademarked "Kentucky Fried Chicken" and "It's Finger Lickn' Good" on the behalf of CHS and his desire to begin franchising.

Is it true that at some juncture the legislative bodies and Governor of Kentucky passed and signed a law that either banned the use of the word Kentucky in trademarks, or made one pay royalties for the use of the word Kentucky annually within that State forever, and this forced the company to change it's name to KFC?

Kentucky Did Pass Laws of That Yes.
It Did Not cause Kentucky Fried chicken to change the NAME to KFC.
KFC was more the Buzz word that People were using it and They Ran with the Buzz for the Advertising Buzz.
If Kentucky legislating the word Kentucky and it held a Grain of Salt they would HAVE YOUTUBE stopping the words and use and stop people from using the CHS stating Kentucky Fried Chicken in every new cast and video. There is NO WAY IN A FROSTY Hell that the State would have won a Legal Battle over long time established companies who were using the Name Long before the Trademark ?
Furthermore Kentucky Fried chicken has brought more awareness to Kentucky then ALL the Money they have spent promoting their State for FREE

Please Understand all Guess will be answered to a Yes or a NO
if you get a YES you must then attach a copy of the Printed Ingredient List from where it was obtained.
I have Looked at 100's and 100's of ALL the ingredients Printed and NON of the last years have listed the Proper words.
So BY law that means if they use ANY OTHER word they get around what the Recipe was and can use other recipes
