Hi everyone, a couple of days ago, an old seasoning tin from KFC New Zealand was sold online for $295.00. The previous owner said it was bought some 50 yrs ago in the 70s and it was still unopened. What might be of interest here, is the flour-seasoning-ratio. If my maths are correct, it would be the following: 4 pounds and 12 ounces = 2,15 kg > 17,70% Seasoning & Salt10 kg flour > 82,30% Flour Article

Welcome aboard.
We looked at that a couple days ago. It’s an all in one containing salt. Where normally 3 to 3.5 lbs of salt would go into that amount of flour anyway. Best guess is it’s a normal 26oz seasoning mix plus all the salt

Pre the Tin use it was 2Lbs and 3lbs of Salt used in the OR formula.
KEEP IN MIND the Use of Diamond Salt and Popcorn Salt made the difference as to the weight of the salt.
Popcorn Salt was Very Intense compared to a Diamond Salt.
2Lbs Popcorn Salt 3Lbs of Diamond Salt.
you can research the volume in old KFC Manuals for reference to My information

The Spice Tin that was up for Auction Price Sky Rocketed from $62.00 to $110.00 then in the last Auction Hour just kept climbing.
The Tin would be ALL memorabilia, value.
In conversation with 5 Spice companies the assessment was spices stored in a NON Vacuum Bag. After 50 years would have lots its oils, and dried, There could be some recognition of some spics if they were large particles.
As for doing a reverse engineering of that spice it would be a LONG LONG short with expense associated to potential no outcome.
All companies and Food Science Analyst were convinces that spices in a vacuum bag would have a potential of reverse engineering, even older bags.
