I was asked if there were more then 1 KFC recipe being used.
The answer is 1000% and it varies around the World what is used.
There have been some KFC recipes with as little as 7 Items of Spice and Herbs Physical and boosted with the KFC Extract for aroma and enhancement added to Salt carriers.
The salt carriers are used to carry the Oils. When they are using higher then typical Extracts KFC will drop the Salt Bags size due to the extra salt Carrier in the Spice and Herbs.
Typically KFC has used from 1 to 3 LBS of Salt for Flour Ratios between 1o and 25 LBS of Flour
Salt has been from, Confection Flour Powder, Popcorn Salt, Diamond Salt, Table Salt consistency
The ORIGINAL ORIGINAL AP Flour was a Tri-Blend Wheat, Corn, Barely Blend that was sold as a WHEAT FLOUR. It has been NOTED BY CHS that he used a Special Blend of Flour in Early Years BUT many stores also purchased Flour from local regional suppliers BUT the chicken DIDNOT have they same Leather Corn Flake Exterior when they used the Wrong Blend of Flour. Corporate then shipped ALL Flour from there Own source.
Milk and Egg Powder was originally supplied By Kraft and it was Dream Whip, or Dessert Powder Formula. which is where the Dextrose started to be shown in the KFC label
In many countries there were Import regulations and Label Mandatory requirements which would have caused KFC to divulge the Ingredient list to more detail, or just use more Extracts and circumvent the Label Printing when NO real spice was used.
The Old Original KFC had a VERY VERY VERY deep Aroma that waffled 2 City Blocks in the 1960's because the Corporation was still using Beef Fat Blocks for Deep Frying this was even NOTES in Manuals. It always listed Melt the Shortening at Low temperature for 45 Minutes Prior to cooking the First Batch of Chicken.
The Beef Tallow was NOT the Only reason for the Aroma depth, The over head Hood exhaust in the 1960's were NOT equipped with Charcoal Screens and Scrubbing Air Screens Prior to those Years and Only Previously High Flow Fabs were used with NO filters. The change from Real Spices to Extracts also made significant Aroma loss. Until International Fragrance Co. developed the Aroma Enhancer for KFC. to be added to carriers of Corn Starch which Caused the Extra Crunchy Chicken Coating. So KFC then started a Golden Brown Crunchy Ad Campaign and Taste test challenge.
3 Items Salt, Pepper, were the Original 2 Items CHS used. He then added 11 Spices and Herbs to the Salt and Pepper. MSG was incorporated after 1955's when Accent MSG was re introduced into the USA market between 1949 - 1951. BUT at that Time Campbell's & Kraft had the Majority right to ALL MSG shipped into the USA Accent then Packaged the MSG and it hit retail and wholesale markets in 1954, MSG WAS the Number 12th Item or Number 14 if you Do NOT count the Salt and pepper as the essentials.
Garlic, Onion, Celery, and other vegetable Flakes were NOT listed as Spices and Herbs. 1935 Court Cases made it Clear about Vegetable Flakes and Label laws.
KFC skirts Label laws which throws KFC wantabee Copy creature for a LOOP.: When Labels list Black pepper White Pepper MSG Coriander, there becomes a perception that there ARE NO other spices between those item NOT TRUE. / KFC don't give a crap about label listing Pepper, Salt, MSG as CHS always said that Salt, and Pepper was the first 2 items. MSG was a Mandatory item to be listed. KFC took the approach list it and keep there mouth shut and it will get overlooked and they will not be labeled in the CHINESE FOOD MSG Boycott and it worked for KFC.
in many countries Paprika had to be Mandatory listed as a Color agent if used. So KFC was forced to list the Paprika.
so Salt, Pepper, MSG, Paprika plus Onion and Garlic were then more disclosed as items ingredient of USE.
By 1990 - 1991 many people forgot about the court case with Famous Chicken and the Court sanctioned ruling until KFC KICKED the CRAP out of Pats Chicken in UK and shut down his operation. Marion Kay was also going through Hell After CHS Died, Bill S of Marion Kay had to STOP selling 99x with the similar 11 Spice and Herbs.
While CHS was alive NEW AGE CORPORATION was Screwed with Canada, UK, Montana, Utah, Florida as they WERE NOT part of the Sale to Brown and Massey.
CHS had the rights to Canada, Florida, Peter H had the rights to Montana & Utah, Pats had exclusive rights in the UK with CHS
KFC had a Major issue with OIL and PEPPER Law changes in the OILS and PEPPER shortage
Transfat Oils legislation was enforced
Liquid Pepper became the KFC saving

I have MANY of CHS old documents after he passed and The Family were wanting to clean out some storage areas they had in Western Canada. I was asked to handle the move of the Items and purchased it. YES it came with a CONFIDENTIALITY AGREEMENT. THE problem KFC NEW AGE has is the Confidentiality agreement ONLY is attached to what was PURCHASED, I have just LEARNED that anything Gifted from the FAMILY or Others including the Charitable Organization or Others is NOT under Confidentiality Agreement.
SO under Good Conscious and CHS word to make Fried Chicken the Hospitality Item it should be I will pass on Gifted Information.
Much may be NO new surprise BUT some will be educational and Aid in making chicken the Hospitality Dish it should be.
,Salt, Black Pepper, MSG ARE NOT part of the 11 SPICE and HERBS so your List of items should be NO LESS then 14 Ingredients and with Questionable Interest becomes 17 when Garlic, Onion, Celery are Legally NOT defined as Spices and Herbs
