There is a rather interesting selection of herbs and spices on the very front page of gracesperfectblend.com. Just a coincidence that almost all of them are our usual suspects? Anyway, the one ingredient no one seems to take into consideration are Juniper Berries. Any experiences?

I've heard of them, but have zero actual experience of them.

I did some quick web searching and came across this for Juniper Berries:

On Grace's website they state that their mix contains 12 spices, and Juniper Berries are certainly a candidate. This image also appears on their website, just below where they say it contains 12 spices.

There is certainly a lot of red stuff in the 12 spices image. It doesn't match up well with the ingredients that Grace's revealed to Glen of 'Glen and Friends Cooking'. (which also contained no Juniper Berries)

If garlic is classified as a vegetable (as opposed to a spice) then 11 H&S plus garlic would permit 12.

it was NOT a very well recognized item in 1930's cooking from any old recipe CHS every passed on to our family. and it does NOT show up in many recipes until later in the 1960's it was more a Pharmacy item.
I have NEVER in 40 years seen a spice Tin from the 1930's which said Juniper Berries so IF CHS said it was on EVERY table or pantry DO NOT think it fits the recipe of 1930

I think juniper has something unique about it and should not be overlooked, i am going to try some in a recipe soon. Also, coriander seed can be considered now and i believe it to be in the recipe.

I made a spice/herb run today. Got a lot, but haven't found nigella yet.
