Have you watched this clip from New Zealand yet, where KFC confirms Pepper, Rosemary, Thyme and Oregano? What are your thoughts? I always liked rosemary in my recipes, it would make a lot of sense to me. It is on many KFC illustrations too. Oregano is contentious again. Mediterranean or Mexican? Or only part of Chili Powder, but not of one the 11 on its own? It is very interesting to see that he claims to actually smell these herbs in the breading. In my experience, you would need to use rather huge amounts to do that. But maybe that's the extracts hitting.

He states that he can detect Pepper, Rosemary, Thyme, Oregano, and Milk (or a Milk Product). Then he is graded as having identified 4 of 11. So one of the 5 items he detected is not present. We know that Milk powder is present due to the Powdered Milk and Powdered Egg carton addition.
I like Rosemary as well, but I've never added it to a deep fried Chicken recipe yet. I've mainly had it on Beef or Lamb. But I think it would most likely taste great in a deep fried Chicken coating.
The key here is to determine which of the 5 detected doesn't belong. For me that comes down to either Oregano or Rosemary.

I wish I could have a crack at the smell test, or better yet, a crack at cooking some real yet homemade KFC_OR straight from an official 740 gram (26 ounce) bag.

Pepper, Rosemary, Thyme and Oregano were correct. Milk powder wasn’t. You can tell by the sound. Like from a game show.

Where I used to use Marjoram, I've been using Oregano of late. That said, now that I have Mexican Oregano (which is not in the Oregano family) I need to try it. For no other reason than that It simply smells far better than real Oregano.

For no other reason than that It simply smells far better than real Oregano. I actually have some mexican oregano leaves that i bought when i recently replenished my spice and herb supply with fresh stuff. To me it doesn't seem to have much or any smell, the leaves are quite large tho, so maybe grinding them up will release some more aroma. Apparently marjoram and oregano are closely related, so if that is true it would explain why so many people believe marjoram is in it. they are mistaking oregano for marjoram
