Took some leftover seasoning from last cook. Sprinkled on some thighs and on to the BBQ. A good call and a good way to test and smell the seasoning as it cooks. Kept the BBQ temp low as not to char too much.
A good way to use up various mixes if you blend the small amounts into 1 container.

My random thought for the day:
If I posted a clear photograph of my wife's herb and spice shelves and racks, would this guide anyone to discovering the secret recipe?

My random thought for the day:
If there are 6 Herbs and 5 Spices, then why did Margaret Sanders state in her book that there are not very many Herbs in her fathers secret recipe?

I'm not so sure she may have it all right. Reads like couple of herbs they liked add to the salt and pepper. But then look how she remembers the boat trip "11th" ingredient.

The Woman who has a propensity to STAY OUT of the KITCHEN is a Great Wealth of knowledge to ONLY figure out writing a Book about C.H.S was a Great way to make some CASH.
People that Knew the Family say Her Book was so Mis-represented it was NOT Funny and the Colonel would have NOT been happy.
There are many items she wrote that were correct BUT more which people say she made errors with?
When you spoke to Her in Real Life Her stories were much different then what was wrote in the Book

Her written story makes sense only if the 11th ingredient was actually a blend.

Her story is OFF
the 11 Spices and Herbs were finished and made BY 1940 Before the Pressure cooker, The Cumberland lake and BOAT trip was NOT until 1955's. THE CUMBERLAND RIVER was NOT made and Finished By the Corp of Engineers in 1939 it was NOT Open until MUCH later and There were NO large Boat Docks for the first few years.
The ingredients' wrote above the Door was in 1940 according to the Colonel and Noe who commissioned the Boat Trip had started building the Dock in the 53/54 Boating Season. It was NOT officially OPEN until the following Year.

Mr radical thought for the day: My research has revealed that the typical Clove Flower contains 180,000 ppm of Eugenol per gram, and the typical Allspice Peppercorn (Fruit) contains 36,000 ppm of Eugenol per gram. By trial and error I've concluded that for 200 grams of flour 0.20 grams of Clove is about perfect. 1) 0.20 grams Clove x 180,000 ppm = 36,000 ppm Eugenol 2) (0.35 grams Allspice x 36,000 ppm) + (0.125 grams Clove x 180,000 ppm) = 36,000 ppm Eugenol Conclusion: Either add 0.20 grams of Clove, and supplement with Nutmeg, Mace, and Cinnamon, or add 0.35 grams of Allspice plus 0.125 grams of Clove.

4.2 grams of Sweet Basil also delivers 36,000 ppm of Eugenol.
So therefore: 2.1 grams of Sweet Basil plus 0.50 grams of Allspice = 36,000 ppm of Eugenol
Seems worthy of exploration. As 0.50 grams of Allspice may be just enough to also deliver adequate Nutmeg, Mace, and Cinnamon.
