Savory has almost identical taste and smell to that of thyme. It's very obvious that savory was one of the 11 herbs and spices that CHS used in the original chicken. However, how thyme is included questions me whether KFC have been using it as a substitute. Otherwise I don't see any reason to believe that both of them were included.

The Chinese analysis detected Thymol. A guy on Ken's forum who posts under the name "justme" and has been diligently pouring over the data from a 2011 dated Chinese chemical analysis of KFC_OR says this is what he considers to be "in": sage black pepper white pepper coriander leaf (not seed) orange peel allspice thyme clove chili (ancho, not hot) ginger MSG And this is what he considers per the Chinese chemical analysis to be "out": oregano marjoram basil lavendar tarragon rosemary nutmeg mace cinnamon cassia bark juniper berry fennel seed anise star anise cayenne yellow mustard seed black mustard seed Jamaican ginger ginger savory celery seed bay leaf cardamom garlic onion

I just noticed that " justme" also contributes to this forum. My hope is that he will see this and chime in with clarification in case I have misconstrued or misunderstood him.

I just noticed that Ginger appears in both the "in" and "out" groupings.

There have been a few people who have tried to interrupt the Chinese test. It has been a battle of what can or can be in the mix BUT it is apparent many people have there own guesses by process of elimination.
It is tuff with a one test printout to determine the items but it does limit many items that is certain
This is also the question when the chicken was tested it becomes THIS it was a done in China and the mix there is different then the USA. KFC and many places say its ALL the SAME that's BS
Many countries especially Overseas is different then USA and Canada ETC
