Some claim that onion powder and celery salt were used in the original recipe. However, when I checked the label on a seasoning bag, onion powder and celery salt were not listed unlike garlic powder that was listed. FDA requires celery salt and onion powder to be listed as well as garlic powder since they do not fall into the category of herbs and spices. Did KFC omit them?

What Year are you making reference to ?
1905 FDA did not require Onion Powder & Celery Salt to be listed BUT after 1980's it was made a listing item

Even in those days onion powder and celery salt are not labeled on the KFC seasoning bag.

More like it was covered under the 'umbrella' of "Vegetable". The ingredient list only had to say 'Vegetables'.

Yes the List only needed to say vegetables and it could have been 1 or 100 vegetables and they were covered.

But when the Vegetables were on the list it still needed to be listed in the order of Highest used volume item to lowest volume items
