I will was questioned about Chilli Powder in Private and Make this statement:
Chilli Powder was one of the First items C.H.S. added to Flour, Salt, Pepper the First Original Items C.H.S. started frying chicken with.
C.H.S. added Chilli Powder yo the mix NOT Paprika.
K.F.C. New Age Corporation have NEVER denied this information when requested for a comment.
In Some Countries Bird's Eye Chilli is listed as a Ingredient
New Age K.F.C. has listed Chilli Powder ONLY under the Listing For Original Chicken recipe.
Back in 1930's California was Growing the Number 1 used Peppers for Chilli Powder, C.H.S brought Chilli Powder with him to Canada which he used to also Make B.B.Q. Sauce.

Would this be the typical Chili Powder that contains a Red Pepper (of some sort, or blend), plus Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, Salt, Oregano, and Cumin?
I believe that the most common Red Pepper found in commercial mild Chili Powder is likely to be Ancho, but a lot of home recipes call for Paprika mixed with a pinch of Cayenne, along with all of the other ingredients listed above.

My old standby 'Recipe #4' contained about half a gram of Tones Chili Powder per every 200 grams of flour, and it made for a mighty fine deep fried chicken.

I believe that one spelling is correct for a pure dried red pepper powder that may be ovened or fried or smoked (or a combination of these) whereby to develop a distinct flavor (just as for Paprika). And I believe the other leads to the blend I mentioned three posts above. But which is which? And is Ancho Pepper a player in both?

I agree. With that spelling I would assume a specific type of red pepper. So Anaheim, or Ancho or similar would be what I would expect

I will circle back to what I have mentioned a bunch of times. Having an exact brand of a commercial mixed blend. Means you are bound to their supply chain, changes etc. in today’s world problematic. In 1939-50 a huge problem. I do not believe a commercial blend of Chili powder was used anywhere after Pete got involved.
