Marion Kay – Summers
Mr. Summers told me how he spread the seasoning out on a piece of paper and started taking inventory of the ingredients by eye sight, smell, and taste.
Mr. Summers not only figured out the “secret” recipe but figured out what inferior spices had been substituted for spices that were probably of better quality back in the day when the Colonel himself was doing the blending.
Mr. Summers blended an “improved” batch of the secret recipe and waited for the Colonel to return.
These Are Key Points
• Inventory of the ingredients by eye sight, smell, and taste.
• Figured out what inferior spices had been substituted for spices that were probably of better quality back in the day
• Blended an “improved Batch
Moral of the story, which I have professed is yes you can figure out what is in 99X and other Samples But you need to get back to the Spices in 1930’s and USE the Better Quality items that were Originally used.
The Best Quality Spices were in 1930’s and since 1980’s they have changed. We Cannot into 2021 use the same Grams or Ounces of spices to create what once was. If you think that 26 ounce is the ONLY answer and 100 LBS is the KEY. WITH WHAT IS AVAILABLE now. THINK AGAIN.
The People who jump up and down and scream 26 ounces and 100 Lbs. are the same hypocrites that say the Chickens have changed since 1930’s. Wow Sherlock BUT the spices Have NOT changed. There is NO comparing a Stone Milled Spice of the 1930 to a Commercial Grade Grown spice of 2021.
Bill Summers was NOT concerned about a 26 ounce or 100Lbs. Barrel he was concerned about what SPICE AND HERBS would have been ORIGINALLY USED first then worry about amount.
If you are using a substitute and not the Original you cannot get where you need to go.
Mr. Summers figured out what inferior spices had been substituted for spices that were probably of better quality back in the day when the Colonel himself was doing the blending.
If you make a cup of coffee with 2 cream and 2 sugar today and its NOT sweet enough, DO YOU add more sugar and drink it the way you like it, or say I always ONLY used 2 Spoons of sugar, and Do NOT drink it.
I'm NOT trying to insult anyone with comments in the Post BUT People need to LOOK at the REAL situation.
CHS said DO NOT under season your food.
