Would some mixture ratio of these ingredients, plus MSG, plus white and black pepper, plus salt hit the note?
Ginger A blend of Mild Red Pepper & Cayenne Pepper Paprika Cumin Mace Sage Savory Basil Bay Leaves Oregano Thyme

It has under-tones yes
Garlic and Onions also are very aromatic and Flavor
some will argue Rosemary should replace Thyme, Nutmeg instead of Mace ETC ETC ETC.
I have repeated this ON many many many occasions over the TIME span since 1935's when CHS made the Some of the FIRST fried chicken with more then Salt, Pepper
The ingredient's have flip flopped and changed. Many Times it was First because supply and Demand of the Spices. It was you used what you could get.
In the 1930's MONEY was hard to come by and a Penny was worth something. You could NOT afford to BUY Extra just because you wanted to, and if you missed the Wagon medicine man spice seller you missed getting what you needed.
Today the Amazon order deliver next day compared to more like order today and get 3 weeks down the road, in the 1930's
