Joe Ledington, the nephew of the colonel said the recipe found in a scrapbook once owned by Sanders' late wife, Claudia Sanders, was the original and many said it was similar to Eula Gordon's / Eula Gibson Recipe.
1 Tbsp or Salt
1 Tbsp Black Pepper Ground
3 Tbsp White Pepper Ground
5 Tbsp Total Salt & Pepper
½ Tbsp Basil
½ Tbsp Oregano
½ Tbsp Thyme
1 Tbsp Celery salt
1 Tbsp Ginger powder
1 Tbsp Mustard powder
2 Tbsp Garlic powder
4 Tbsp Paprika
10.5 Tbsp Total of 9 Spices
10.5 tsp Total of 9 Spices
Combined Spice Total
5 Tbsp Total Salt & Pepper, + 10.5 Tbsp Total of 9 Spices = 15.5 Tbsp All Spices
5 Tbsp Total Salt & Pepper, + 10.5 tsp Total of 9 Spices 5 Tbsp + 10.5 tsp = Total All Spices.
If you view all should be in Tablespoon or Teaspoons it simple
15.5 tbsp or 15.5 teaspoon depends on what you feel the T’s represented
WHAT AMOUNT should be used if you were using the AMOUNTS in Flour ? ? ?
DO NOT worry about the Items being correct This recipe was used BY KFC at 1 time
OPEN FORUM what amount ? Have you tried the recipe ?

As far as whether it is Tablespoons or teaspoons, the Gibson recipe solves the question.
The lack of suitable storage containers back in those days was handled by using anything you had handy. Glass was out in the kitchen for obvious reasons. An empty large spice tin would fill the bill and probably was. This one just happened to be a paprika tin. So, a mix of prepared seasonings could have been stored there and any small adjustments could be added to the flour, salt, pepper, etc. part of the recipe.
No, I don't know. Just brain storming.

CHS when he went from Location to location for Franchise had a 50Lbs Tin of Spice's & Herbs, and had a Ice Chest for the Chicken, which he took from location to location Day to Day.
CHS re-used and repurposed many item's In the Museum you can see a large Potato Chip Tin that they re-used in in the Restaurants.
I guess your explaining the Gibson Recipe how it solves the answer would help others ?

Eula Gibson was a cook/manager for Harland Sanders for a long time. John Ed Pearce, in a 1980s biography of Harland Sanders, wrote Eula's name as Gordon instead of Gibson. Since that name is also on the Gibson recipe, there may be a connection between Pearce and the source of the recipe.
When searching for the Gibson recipe, search for "Eula Gordon's original mixture". The recipe was posted long before the Ledington one.
You might check out an article in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette 20 Jan 2009 "She gave KFC key to kingdom"
The Ledington and the Gibson recipes were written at different times and for different situations. The Ledington recipe was for 2 cups of flour as would be used in the home while the Gibson recipe was for 4 cups of flour which would be for a small cafe type operation. Neither would have been for the road trips. The Gibson recipe indicates which ingredients are in Tablespoons and which are in teaspoons. Memory may have been an issue with the Ledington.
Like everything else concerning Harland Sanders, some of this may be true and some not.
Was the slogan "11 Herbs and Seasonings" at the beginning?
