If I buy it as star pods, do I grind up an entire pod and use it that way?

Yes grind it whole Star pod.
I freeze the electric grinder if its a metal blades or use a hand grinder so you Don't over heat the Pod

The Original Grinders that were used were similar to these also Grinders were also used

For my next attempt I will divide the recipes Allspice in half, and then add half as Allspice plus half as Star Anise.
I.E., if Allspice was originally 0.60 grams, I will instead add 0.30 grams of Allspice, and 0.30 grams of Star Anise.

Its a good idea its a great spice and you know its there when you use it
Its like a Fennel Seed you know you used fennel seed the Note and the taste is also a one you Do Not miss in recipes
