I know there will be many who say it's a photo and Color changed.
Ask ANYONE who has ate KFC from the 1960's to Present Day.
The Chicken was a Red/Rose and the Coleslaw was a Green
The Coating was a moist and full flavored coating you NEVER had a taste of Flour like present day KFC.
In the late 1970's the KFC went to a Chicken the was a CRUNCH and people went NUTS for it and it has stayed with a Crunch and loss of flavor since then

I'm old enough to have started eating KFC chicken by the late 1950's. I distinctly remember it being darker and somewhat more red, and then suddenly getting lighter, and definitely not tasting as good. Getting KFC chicken as a child was one of my favorite things.

Top photo of the bucket is exactly the right color and what KFC looked like in Canada for sure in the 70's into the 80's. A golden, redish brown if that makes sense.

It seems lighter in color and also more yellowish now than it did back in my youth.
And on another subject plane, I think KFC original has tasted downright awful ever since the trans-fat oil ban took effect (late 2006, early 2007), but that may not be the whole story as to why it no longer tastes good.
There have definitely been several flavor changes in my lifetime. The problem as I see it is, would I remember the earlier tastes? Plus, I can't cook in trans-fat oils either. Unless lard and/or beef tallow qualify in that regard.

My Mother told Me it was more of a Reddish Hue back then vs now. This could be so that they don't have to alter their wording from the "Herbs and Spices", to "Natural Coloring" also. As well as less quality in products.

The problem with ALL photos is that they don't (and literally can't) capture the suns natural color spectrum correctly to begin with, plus it is extremely easy to further bias their color perspective. And things get far worse when the photo is taken under artificial light, such as indoors or in a studio.
