But there was a pretty good string of KFC's opening in Canada in 1955/56. Contrasting sources say that the first franchise in Canada (Barney's Kentucky Fried Chicken, also known as Barney's), opened in Calgary on Centre street in 1953. Different claims are understandable, since many restaurants started selling the chicken before actual franchises were opened, so start dates could be confused. |

Barney inquired about the Kentucky Fried Chicken and was the first Canadian Location to Start serving Kentucky Fried Chicken made in the Pressure Fryers Stove Top out of His Restaurant in Canada Joe in Saskatoon was the 3rd location

None of the First 5 locations in Canada were Stand alone Location the Kentucky Fried Chicken was ad on Menu items to Already open mom and pop locations which included Barney in Calgary and then others and Joe in Saskatoon El-Rancho Drive In.
The original Stand alone Buildings were refer to as Bucket Buildings by some Franchise Locations
