I bought some organic Mccormick Cinnamon yesterday which is Vietnam origin (Saigon) and by far the yummiest, tastiest cinnamon i've ever had in my life, it is divine and works beautifully in the recipe. Yesterday i bought a new pouch and the flavour is so weak it's a joke. My old unopened pouch that expired last year is 10x more fragrant!
The first telicherry black pepper i bought you wouldn't believe how explosive in flavour it was, but i haven't had a single batch as good. I am finding this is becoming more and more common.
People who haven't experienced the difference between quality won't notice the difference and the difference is big. The difference being the quality batch is bursting with flavour and the low quality batch is dull and muted.

I Agree that there are quality issues and its massive.
In Canada the Government and independent verifications show the some spices and herbs are containing 35% fillers
In Canada they will recall and reject items with high fillers as they can contain more bacteria than Pure spice or herbs BUT it is usually only investigated when complaints are submitted or illness is expected or a random test is preformed
