The flavour is unique with its alcohol, piney, citrusy, and slight spiciness. It is a bit like cubeb pepper but much nicer. Marionkay also sells them.
I have tried cubeb pepper/ grains of selim and ruled those two out completely. Next one to check is grains of paradise.
Juniper berries are in for me. Bay leaves are out.
