The One thing that is Important to Understand with Sage / Oregano
There is a HUGE Taste difference Between Ground, Rubbed and Leaves. in either setting
In the 1930's Many recipes called for a Rubbed Rubbed Sage and a Ground Oregano as the Flavor Profile between the items and taste.
I have stated that the Original Recipe Had VISIABLE signs of more then Black Pepper Spec's, it Had Visible Herbs which were also indicated BY Bill S who Clearly stated He figured out the Items By pouring the spice out and first visualizing what Spices were in the Bag.

My Mexican Oregano appears to be tiny curled up whole leaves.

This recipes ingredients count opened the door wide to my certified Allspice killer. Thus this version 2, which appropriately kills Allspice.
