www.amazon.com/Durkee-Garlic-Salt-40-Ounce-Containers/dp/B001EO6EOMThe package states that there are 550 mg. of Sodium in every serving of 1.6 grams, so lets calculate the percent Salt and the percent Garlic Powder: NaCl (Salt) = 39.337 % by weight Sodium Ion and 60.663% by weight Chloride Ion. 550 mg Sodium in 1.6 grams = 343.75 mg. Sodium in every individual gram. 343.75 mg. = 0.34375 grams of Sodium 0.34375/0.39337 = 0.873859217 grams Salt 1 - 0.873859217 = 0.126140783 grams Garlic Powder Answer: Durkee Garlic Salt is 87.4% Salt, and 12.6% Garlic Powder by weight For comparison, Walmart's Great Value Organic Garlic Salt is 58.7% Salt, and 41.3% Garlic Powder by weight. For comparison, McCormick Garlic Salt is 89% by weight Salt, but it contains Garlic extractives in addition to Garlic Powder, so it's "effective" Garlic Powder is indeterminable. Obviously Garlic Salt varies quite wildly as to it's Garlic content from brand to brand. But in general the non-organic budget line stuff seems to deliver far less Garlic and far more Salt.
