Let those tabascos sit until they soften and you will be surprised. Pleasantly, or disappointingly?

Very good fermented pepper taste. They get downright juicy. Never saw another pepper quite like this one. And the pepper plant is huge. I have a photo of my daughter standing beside one and it is taller than her.

Amazing! Mine didn't get half that tall. About knee high. But then this is northern Ohio and Tabasco is probably more of a summer heat loving Pepper than Ohio can muster.

I did an interesting experiment today:
I ate a baked potato that was split in half. Both sides were buttered and salted. Then I liberally poured Black Pepper onto one half and I sprinkled a moderate amount of Tabasco powder onto the other half.
The most shockingly interesting part was that the Black Pepper half tasted quite noticeably more spicy hot than did the Tabasco Pepper half. And as to flavor, the Black Pepper half tasted better also.
40,000 Scoville Tabasco was less hot than 7,500 Scoville Equivalent Black Pepper. And there was more bite to the Black Pepper.
Perhaps getting rid of both White Pepper and Tabasco or Cayenne from our recipes is a valid possibility for Consideration. Perhaps White Pepper is merely a deceptive ruse.
