The oil of Bay Leaves is about 20% by weight Methyl-Eugenol. Unlike regular Eugenol, Methyl-Eugenol is a known Carcinogen in mice and rat studies. And Methyl-Eugenol is recognized officially as a carcinogen under California's Proposition 65 law.
