One of the questions asked often is the Original KFC Spice Color and the Current KFC NEW AGE COLOR
The Original KFC Spice was a Red Color with Visual Herb and Spices including Black Pepper.
The New Age KFC Spice is a Greyish Green color
In the Last decades the NEW AGE KFC has shown in Print that the Black Pepper was list First before the White Pepper.
Where is Old Days White Pepper was listed First before the Black Pepper.
This is one Contributing Factor to the Color change on Other country Ingredient list was NOTED Paprika Extract which would be a washed Paprika
The paprika was a MAJOR issue for Excessive Oil use with KFC in the 1970's
The Original Beef Tallow had a more stable cooking and would NOT overly discolor compared to the Hydronated Vegetable Oils.
Remember Brown and Massey wanted a Crispy Golden Brown Visual and market on the Golden Brown (They wanted to distract the OIL issue with the World Golden Brown)
